| Point taken TUSCALOOSA - On Tuesday morning, Alabama coach Mark Gottfried called his point guards in for a meeting. The subject was simple, specific and essential. "It was about getting our offense started," freshman point guard Rico Pickett said. "Just running our offense, period." Through four Southeastern Conference games with no wins, merely beginning an offensive possession has become an issue. Making enough passes to allow the X's and O's to take shape has been a battle, as well. Without a midweek game, the Crimson Tide will use the extra practice hours to focus on the fundamental malfunctions that have made it difficult to score. The goal is for the offense to be in working order by the time Auburn visits Saturday at 2 p.m. Gottfried would not point the finger at any one player or position. "Our perimeter play in the first four games in the league has not been great," he said. "It starts with the point guards, but it doesn't end there. Our wings can do a better job of helping us get into our offense. It's all around the perimeter, and it starts with me. I've got to make sure we're doing everything we can to help our guys."
