Saban tells Crimson Tide to 'buy in' or hit the road

TUSCALOOSA -- When Alabama football coach Nick Saban talks about "buying in" to his "process," it's his way of describing a total commitment to winning championships.
Players work out on their own in an effort to become better players, not because a strength and conditioning coach is checking their names off a list. Players attend classes to become better student-athletes, not because an academic adviser is monitoring their progress toward graduation. Players learn the proper way to execute every play, not take a few plays off in a meaningless game because 100 percent effort on every play -- or at every practice -- is too difficult.
When he describes the meltdown his team had in losing its final four regular-season games of 2007, he characterizes it as players who did not buy into the program because it was a radical change from the culture that was in place when he arrived in January.

I have heard that McElroy was considering transferring to Hawaii, both of his parents are Hawaii alum.

Saban has been touting the doom of the cowards and the quitters on this team and he is about ready to start yanking scholarships from these malcontents. I want to see him make good on it.

That's the only way he can turn the program in the right direction Stoney. Looks like he is settin down on them. The ultimatum has been given. Now let's see who sits and stays, who turns tail and runs, and who leaves by boot to the ass.

Re: Saban tells Crimson Tide to 'buy in' or hit the road

If Saban is truly serious he needs to have a statement that says the following atheletes scholarships are withdrawn effective Janurary 1st. That sends a real message then add and there may be more to follow. He needs to make it clear to all incoming players what he expects. More importantly what the fans expect.
