| Saban tells Crimson Tide to 'buy in' or hit the road TUSCALOOSA -- When Alabama football coach Nick Saban talks about "buying in" to his "process," it's his way of describing a total commitment to winning championships. Players work out on their own in an effort to become better players, not because a strength and conditioning coach is checking their names off a list. Players attend classes to become better student-athletes, not because an academic adviser is monitoring their progress toward graduation. Players learn the proper way to execute every play, not take a few plays off in a meaningless game because 100 percent effort on every play -- or at every practice -- is too difficult. When he describes the meltdown his team had in losing its final four regular-season games of 2007, he characterizes it as players who did not buy into the program because it was a radical change from the culture that was in place when he arrived in January. | Re: Saban tells Crimson Tide to 'buy in' or hit the road If Saban is truly serious he needs to have a statement that says the following atheletes scholarships are withdrawn effective Janurary 1st. That sends a real message then add and there may be more to follow. He needs to make it clear to all incoming players what he expects. More importantly what the fans expect. |
