| Applewhite Named Offensive Coordinator of the Week TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Alabama offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Major Applewhite was named the national offensive coordinator of the week by two publications, following the Crimson Tide’s 41-17 win over Tennessee last Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Applewhite was named the Master Coaches Survey (MCS) Offensive Coordinator of the Week and earned one of five MCS Nike Game Balls after the Crimson Tide offense produced its best offensive output in a Southeastern Conference game since the 2002 season. Under Applewhite’s guidance, Alabama passed for a season-high 363 yards and scored 41 points, the most in an SEC game since a 45-17 win at Kentucky in 2004. Alabama’s offense was outstanding on first down, averaging 7.9 yards per play against the Vols. Junior quarterback John Parker Wilson completed 13 of 18 passes for 170 yards on first down in the win over Tennessee. Wilson tied an Alabama record with 32 completions and finished with 363 passing yards and three touchdowns. Senior wide receiver DJ Hall caught a school-record 13 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns, all career highs. Full Story
