OXFORD, Miss. | All Javier Arenas wanted was a chance, and he finally got it in
the fourth quarter of the University of Alabama’s game against Ole Miss on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide’s sophomore return specialist came through with a 54-yard punt return that helped turn a contest with several key kicking-game plays, sparking Alabama to a 27-24 victory.
“We think he’s a dangerous threat on special teams,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said.
Arenas didn’t get an opportunity to return a punt until about nine minutes remained, with Alabama trailing by a touchdown. He fielded the ball and weaved through the Ole Miss coverage unit for a big return to set up the game-tying touchdown.
