| Prothro running pain-free
Posted by Ian R. Rapoport October 08, 2007 11:23 PM
Interesting little tidbit here: I just got off the phone with Michael Shortt, the high school coach of Tyrone Prothro. Turns out, the electric Prothro made a cameo at Alabama practice last week. He's been working out in the shadows of his teammates, going in at off times. Anyway, it's note in tomorrow's section of College Beats. Here is a sneak peak: Former Alabama receiver Tyrone Prothro, who stopped by practice last week, has been running pain-free, according to his high school coach. The fifth-year senior is on a medical scholarship after four leg surgeries. "He's running some, and he's very encouraged that he's running basically pain-free right now," said Michael Shortt, the Cleburn County High coach. "Not at full speed, and he's not making cuts. But anything is positive." Prothro told Shortt this summer he still intends on playing at Alabama. Prothro has given one interview in the last two years, and that was to the Anniston Star when he spoke to school children in his home town. He's declined all interviews otherwise. The last I saw of him was when he walked, without a limp, into Alabama's opener against Western Carolina. Stay tuned. Rap Sheet

| Re: Prothro running pain-free As much as I would love for Protro to play he has way too much hardware in his leg. My wife had a lesser version of the same break and she still has trouble if she mis steps or turn with her foot planted. I know he has had much better rehab and is younger and in better shape but another injury to the same leg and he may not walk without a cane anymore.
