We continuously strive to enhance the gameday experience for each home football game at Alabama. After the first three home games, we’ve received some great feedback from the fans. We’ve read through all of the comments and have made some changes for the Homecoming game against Houston on October 7, 2007, at 2:07 p.m. QUAD - Due to Homecoming activities on The Quad, the jumbo screen TV will be relocated to the Soccer Stadium, adjacent to the Student Recreation Center. This week’s game vs. Houston is a Pay-Per-View game, and it will be the only game televised on the jumbo screen TV this weekend. Parking is available at the east campus lots for $10 per vehicle. There are Crimson Ride pickup and drop-off locations near this area that service the east campus parking area and drop off at the Quad, near the Gorgas Library. Click here to view a map of the Crimson Ride gameday routes. Enter the Soccer Stadium from the east main entrance in the Student Rec parking lot. The gates will open at 1:00 p.m. and remain open for one hour after the game. Fans can bring their own refreshments into the stadium. Concession stands will also be open.
- For the convenience of the fans, there will be a large number of restroom trailers and portable toilets added to the area around The Quad. Most of the new restrooms will be located on Capstone Dr. just north of The Quad. Click here to see a map of the new restroom locations.
- As is the case for each home game, there will be law enforcement personnel on The Quad this weekend for security and crowd control duties during the day. In addition, there will also be law enforcement on site at the Soccer Stadium (the location of the jumbo screen TV) on gameday.
- Please remember that set up time for tailgating on The Quad is 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As this is Homecoming week, some of the colleges, departments and The National Alumni Association will be setting up tents early in the week as they do each year. These are official University tents and are allowed to set up early this week on The Quad. In conjunction with Homecoming, it is also “Family Weekend” on campus this weekend.
- For Homecoming weekend there is a slight change in The Quad drop-off time Saturday morning for those tailgating on The Quad. The Saturday drop-off time is 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. due to the homecoming parade taking place that morning.
- For fan safety and to keep electricity available to those on The Quad, here are some guidelines to use when tailgating on The Quad:
- No crock pots
- No “spidering” of electrical cords
- No power strips
- No coffee pots
- Here are some other reminders while visiting The Quad:
- No dumping of charcoal on The Quad
- No unauthorized vehicles on The Quad
- Please be tidy and don’t litter on The Quad
PARKING - For the first time ever, we filled all of our on-campus public parking lots during the Georgia game. With the large crowds that will continue to come to the games each week, don’t forget off-site parking is available with shuttle service to and from the game at the following locations on Gameday:
- University Mall
- McFarland Mall
- Downtown Tuscaloosa
- Please note that parking on sidewalks or blocking handicap accessible ramps will NOT be allowed. For the 2007 season, this will be strictly enforced and vehicles found in violation will be subject to being towed at the owner’s expense. Also, parking in post-game exit routes, transit lanes or areas indicated as “no parking” zones is prohibited. Violators are subject to having their vehicles towed at the owner’s expense.
- We have opened up some additional reserved parking spots for the last three games of the season (Tennessee, LSU and La.-Monroe) in the paved Soccer parking lot. To purchase one of these parking passes, call 1-800-240-2300.
TRAFFIC
- We continue to have a record number of fans coming to campus on Gameday. This directly affects traffic and parking, especially when the visiting team is located within driving distance and travels the same routes as our fans do, as was the case with the Georgia game. The heavy traffic following the Georgia game was a result of the sheer volume of fans exiting campus in a short period of time. From the Tuscaloosa Police Department helicopter, we monitor the streets and highways around Tuscaloosa, and there were no accidents or traffic issues that night. Please be patient while The University and our law enforcement partners work hard to continue to get traffic in and out of the city on Gameday.
