Just Another Bump In The Road

No need to go off the deep end about this one. A streaky quarterback, who won't settle down, does not mean the end of the season. He does need to realize that his strings of poor play, is affecting the team. A good quarterback should be able to throw short passes accurately against the wind! The backbreaker was his fumble, although the long touchdown given up by the defense on poor tackling didn't help either. Two breakdowns can cost you the game and both proved to be costly. I knew it was over when D J Hall stopped looking back for the ball and/or the cameras caught him not fully running his routes, when he knew the ball wasn't coming to him. They all have to play for 4 quarters. Coach Saban will eat them alive for this!!!

The first half looked like two middle of the road teams trying to find their identity. One found theirs, unfortunately the other hasn't yet.

Keep the faith fans, better times they are acoming!

Move on, get ready to beat Houston.

Roll Tide!!!

Yep - now if you can get some of the Saban crazed fans to calm down. Saban will get it done - in due time - if given the chance. If the loonies start in on him I think he will bolt - he has bolted a few times before.

Yeah, that's the thing. How patient will they be? Saban will turn this team around given time - but there's no guarantees how long the honeymoon will last in college football, especially in Tuscaloosa.

That's the key ingrediant, it didn't take loonies to make help him bolt before. BAMA fans just need to give it a little time. A year or two more and they will be in the title hunt.

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

I'm, as always, in this for the long term. I can wait for the next step. We just didn't have that next step with Shula. This thing is gonna gel given some time. Our probation recruiting is over and with Coach Saban at the helm, they will start coming. Then we will see the type of players that will take the Tide to the next level.

Improvement and work out the kinks this year, a serious SEC contender next season. SEC contention may still happen this year with all the big boys that have fallen in the first 4 weeks.

Roll Tide!!!

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

I'm sorry guys but I have to take the team to task. They are SORRY and LAZY. They don't execute and quit on too many plays. The coaching staff isn't coaching or making proper adjustments. Pee Wee to the NFL if you stick your biggest guys in the line up it is called a JUMBO set. Why oh why don't we do that? Oh yeah Bear Bryant wasn't afraid of sitting down a QB because of his performance. I wish someone would wake up and say I am taking personal responsibility on the field for my play.

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

I understand that it is a process and that the deffense front seven doesn't have depth but where we should be strong at QB we are not and since it is what it is give someone else a chance it cant hurt. I never thought Bama would be better than 7-5 or 8-4 team this year any way lets get players some game exp.

The bump is on applewhites head he just isn't making adjustments. The definition of insanity is doing things the exact same way time after time expecting different results.

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

I agree that Wilson should be better than he is. I'm sure that Coach Saban is on a short rope with him already. He doesn't need to tell Wilson how much damage he is doing to the team. He should know this today without a reminder from any of the coaches.

If he can't get him to come around, sit him down and try one of the four freshman QB's, Darrah, McElroy, Fanuzzi, and Applegate. They are all listed as freshman, so I don't know which is next up on the roster. I did read that Fanuzzi was highly recruited!

Anyone know who is next? This is the season to get these growing pains out of the way! 3-2 is usually decision time on a streaky QB.

Don't get me wrong, I still think we can pull 7 and maybe 8 games this season.

Roll Tide!!!

Hello,

Alabama has looked good in every game other than against FSU. If shula were still caoaching Bama's record as of now would be 2-3 at best but I think it would be 1-4.

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

I agree on that Shula comment. A world of difference from what we had. We actually looked pretty good at times last night. We have won a close one and lost a close one.

But, when we looked bad last night, (10 punts in one game, 7 in the first half!!!!!!), we really looked bad.

We need to get ready for Houston.

Roll Tide!!!

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

If Saban does NOT fix the attitude problem on this team [quitting on the plays especially if they don't have the ball {DJ Hall}] he is going to be losing more than football games. He will lose the respect of his players and coaches not to mention the fans. It is one thing to lose a close game to a superior team it is totally another to be disgraced by losing to a team you should have beaten. That is why we fired Shula in the first place.

Come on, Tuck4Bama you must not have watched every game and heard what Coach Saban has been saying inconsistant passing game every week and that Bama needs to get the ball to playmakers it is not happening. I dont think Saban will put up with this much longer. He will find some one to make that happen and it may be sooner than we think.

Guess Saban will be the next one run out of town by the fans I need your little black book Stoney - you know the one that has the list of teams you are guaranteed to beat simply because - well because you were good way back when TV screens were round.

I can hear Saban when he was interviewing for the job - players ? - heck we don't need players - we are Bama. I will wave my hands in the air and whip them into all conference palyers with one pass of my magic wand.

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

I don't want to see Alabama disgrace themselves like Notre Dame has. Seems I remember somebody saying that "Highly Recruited " players equals better teams right? So using that logic why is Notre Dame losing?

Let me answer that for you:

Because they don't run the ball and they don't stop other teams from running the ball on them. Is it an attitude problem? YES Can it be fixed? YES. Both teams are playing with mediocre attitudes there is no fire or desire in thier plays. They quit on the field.... That is inexcusable. Alabama needs to reassess the players hearts. I would much rather see Saban hold a press conference and say "We just don't have the talent this year. But that is not going to stop us from trying to win!". Then he needs to play his sophmores and freshmen. Finally he needs to pull Wilson.. put Jimmy Johns or McElroy back there at QB. He needs to show these guys that none of thier jobs are safe. They need to give it 100% every down [DJ Hall] and play Alabama football.
