Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

Every team prepairng to play Bama knows that we are thin at the linbacker position. A true freshman middle linbacker is all the proof you need on that. They are good players and hard hitters but can't play for 40 minutes a game.
In my opinion Saban needs to put as many seniors and juniors behind some of the newer players that he can. The attitude that Stoney mentioned is what I think is leftover attitude from Shula's lack of decipline and motivation to never quit on a play. I can see an obvious difference in the intensity of the youger talent that he puts on the field.
D.J. Hall had better pick up intensity or he will be a bench warmer for the rest of his Alabama career, in fact he might after the team reviews this weeks game tape.

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

If I were the coach I would snatch the scholarship away from DJ Hall and give it to someone else that wanted to play. I would run game tape of Tyrone Prothro and then run tape of DJ Hall. That speaks for itself. Discipline starts at the top and nobody would blame Saban for getting the younger players some more playing time. It only helps the future of this football team.

Let me answer that for you:

Because they don't run the ball and they don't stop other teams from running the ball on them. Is it an attitude problem? YES Can it be fixed? YES. Both teams are playing with mediocre attitudes there is no fire or desire in thier plays. They quit on the field.... That is inexcusable. Alabama needs to reassess the players hearts. I would much rather see Saban hold a press conference and say "We just don't have the talent this year. But that is not going to stop us from trying to win!". Then he needs to play his sophmores and freshmen. Finally he needs to pull Wilson.. put Jimmy Johns or McElroy back there at QB. He needs to show these guys that none of thier jobs are safe. They need to give it 100% every down [DJ Hall] and play Alabama football.
I don't know if you watched "The Nick Saban Show" last night, but he made the same comment....that no player should think his position is safe. They should go out and give it their all when given the opportunity. We haven't played with intensity since the Arkansas game. The first three games, the Tide stepped on the field with confidence and determination. Where did the spark go and how do we get it back? Hopefully, Saban is addressing that issues along with some other inconsistencies because this team is capable of doing better.

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

Frankly FSU made the adjustments on offense and we didn't. Why is up to the coaches. It is a disgrace to go out there and play like that. I have kids in highschool who give it a better effort than that.

Re: Just Another Bump In The Road

I already sent some profiles to the appropiate coaches. Independence High School has a couple of good linemen that I think are very underated. Also there is a sophmore kid up here that is averaging 442 yds per game rushing and has some 42 TDs this season he was quoted in the paper as having a strong interest in Georgia and Alabama. Granted it is highschool. But there are kids all over the place that are making an impact.

Doesn't matter if it's high school or not. Sometimes you just know.

Case in point: back when I was covering high school football in the area, there was a kid who played for Weir High School in Weirton, W. Va. who just just dominant. Like a man against boys. I knew he was going to go on to start for a Division I school, and maybe spend some time in the NFL. His name was Quincy Wilson. I'm sure at least some of you remember him, it wasn't that long ago.
