| ALABAMA NOTEBOOK: Saban: Air attack struggling TUSCALOOSA -- Coach Nick Saban revived earlier criticism of Alabama's passing offense after Saturday's 26-23 overtime loss to Georgia, saying "We've got too many good skill guys here not to have a good passing game." "Sometimes it was a little bit protection. Sometimes we missed a few throws. Sometimes we didn't throw it to the right guy, and sometimes they did a pretty good job of getting us covered," Saban said. Quarterback John Parker Wilson finished 17-of-35 for 185 yards. While he didn't throw an interception, he also didn't throw a touchdown or top 200 yards for the third time in four contests this season. "I didn't get the job done," Wilson said. "We didn't win, so I didn't get the job done." Among Wilson's costly incomplete throws: A fourth-and-1 with Alabama trailing early, two overthrown passes on a field-goal drive to end the first half and two misses to prompt a field goal in overtime. The Bulldogs needed only one snap to reach the end zone on their turn. "When you have to play offense first, you've got to score a touchdown," Saban said. "You've got to be aggressive. We had a couple of people open, and we didn't hit them." --POLL NUMBERS: Alabama (3-1) dropped Sunday but remained in both national top 25 polls after its first defeat. The Associated Press rated the Crimson Tide at No. 22, while the USA Today coaches' poll had it at No. 24. ALABAMA NOTEBOOK: Saban: Air attack struggling- al.com

| Re: ALABAMA NOTEBOOK: Saban: Air attack struggling The Georgia loss is a mere bump in the road and the proof in the pudding will be how they play Florida State this week. If they come out flat, it will probably be a long afternoon and evening. The Georgia game is over, they have to learn from it, forget it, and move forward for this week. Coach Saban knows that he has fought two wars the last two games. This week will be a big test on, if and how, they bounce back and get ready to play come Saturday. I never expected that he would run the table this year. It took him four years to almost run the table at LSU(13-1). He has had 6-6 and 6-5 years in his coaching past at Michigan State. It was his fifth year at Michigan State that he got his 9-2 season. He is still the right man for the Crimson Tide. Roll Tide!!! |
