Tide could make $2-plus million against 'Noles

TUSCALOOSA - Alabama could make more than $2 million on its game next week against Florida State.

The contract for the Sept. 29 game calls for both schools to split the net profits, which is projected to be $2.2 million apiece.

The Huntsville Times obtained a copy of the contract through an open records request.

The game will be played at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. It is considered a neutral site, with Florida State serving as the home team.

The game was put together when Florida State athletic director Dave Hart broached the idea to Alabama AD Mal Moore. Hart and Moore then worked with the Gator Bowl Association to put the event together.

Hart is an Alabama alumnus and played basketball for the Crimson Tide.
"We're very pleased with the way both schools went about this and the participation from the Gator Bowl," Moore told The Times on Wednesday.

"Both universities will do well financially and this was certainly another attraction to the game. (Florida State) gave us an opportunity.
