| Tide linebacker shakes off scare, helps stop Hogs TUSCALOOSA - While his Alabama teammates huddled a few yards away offering their prayers, Keith Saunders was on the Bryant-Denny Stadium turf. Doctors probed his toes and trainers talked to him. It was late in the fourth quarter of Saturday's 41-38 win over Arkansas. The Crimson Tide senior linebacker was on the field in pain. And he couldn't feel his arms. "Man, it hurt real bad," Saunders said. "It stunned me. That's why I was down." Slowly, Saunders regained sensation. The pain in his shoulder subsided. He walked off the field. Game over, right? Nope. With the Alabama defense needing to make one more stop to get the ball back for the offense, Saunders found his way back on the field. It was just a shoulder stinger, doctors told him, and he could return. On his second play back, Saunders made his career-high 10th tackle, a team high against the Hogs. It solidified the fact his scary episode was just a blip on the radar. "I do think it shows a lot of mental toughness on his part, a lot of competitive character to come back," Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. "He played an outstanding game." Saban named Saunders the co-defensive player of the week for his efforts Tide linebacker shakes off scare, helps stop Hogs- al.com
