| Tiffin `developing confidence,' Saban says: TUSCALOOSA - Little happens at Alabama without coach Nick Saban knowing. So yes, he has heard about Leigh Tiffin's performance last season at Arkansas. He knows the then-freshman kicker missed three field goals and an extra point to contribute to the double-overtime loss. "It really doesn't matter," said Saban, whose team faces Arkansas Saturday. "He needs to focus on what's going on now, what he can do in this game, what his job is, how he can help our team." Saban called Tiffin, who is 4 of 8 on field goals and 8 of 8 on extra points, "a young player that is developing confidence." Tiffin did not meet with reporters this week, though he has spoken several times this fall about the Arkansas game. Asked recently if he still thinks about that day, Tiffin said, "as little as possible. The more you dwell on it, the worse it is for you." All in all, players hope a win helps wipe away memories from last year, many of which include their kicker. "I just remember after the game, on the plane, on the way back, he was sitting alone on the plane," center Antoine Caldwell said. "But we've got to focus on what we need to do this year." Saban said that when he suspended receiver Keith Brown and linebacker Prince Hall for the first game, both would have to earn their way back into the starting lineup. Two games have passed, and it's not clear if either has done so. COLLEGE BEAT- al.com
