| Alabama must find way to slow Bennett TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama coach Nick Saban chooses game clips to show his team, a weekly compilation dubbed, "The good, the bad and the ugly." This week's "ugly," for instance, would be a 67-yard Western Carolina catch and run for a touchdown that was called back on a holding penalty. A point will be made. "We gave up too many big plays," Saban said, "and those came on missed tackles and a couple of mental errors." The "ugly" is of particular concern as Alabama heads to Vanderbilt at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, because a player on the other side of the field is so good. Commodores junior receiver Earl Bennett was named Southeastern Conference player of week Monday for a school-record 223 receiving yards on 13 catches during Saturday's 41-17 blowout of Richmond. Bennett's night included a 54-yard catch. He accounted for all but 61 of Vanderbilt's passing yards. "That's one thing we wanted to try to do with Earl this year is throw some longer balls and give him a chance to make some plays for us, and he did it," Commodores coach Bobby Johnson said. "Some of those catches were spectacular." Alabama must find way to slow Bennett- al.com
