| UA, Clemson talk about '08 TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama and Clemson have held discussions about a one-time, neutral-site football game in 2008, according to UA athletics director Mal Moore. The Crimson Tide is looking for a 12th opponent to replace UTEP, which backed out of an October 2008 date earlier this summer. "We have two or three options that we could take," Moore said of Clemson, "and that's one of them." Central Florida has asked out of its Sept. 13 date with Clemson, according to The State newspaper. That is one of two available dates for Alabama. A multiple-game series with Clemson remains possible, Moore said, but it's likely the two schools would choose a location like Atlanta for a single meeting, since neither is eager to add another road game for next season. Along those lines, Alabama added one neutral-site contest this season with Florida State in Jacksonville, Fla. First-year Tide coach Nick Saban has said he would like one high-profile game outside the SEC each season. Home-and-home deals are already in place with Penn State for 2010-11 and Georgia Tech for 2012 and 2014. UA, Clemson talk about '08- al.com
