| Crimson Tide Starter Motley injures ankle TUSCALOOSA -- One of the more vulnerable areas of Alabama's football team just got weaker. Starting nose tackle Brian Motley could be sidelined for an extended period of time after reportedly breaking a bone on the outside of his ankle Tuesday, according to a family member. Motley, a 6-foot-2, 280-pound freshman, was hurt during practice Tuesday afternoon and was carted off the field for X-rays. His parents traveled from their home in Prattville on Tuesday night to be with their son in Tuscaloosa and relayed news of the injury. Motley, who was officially named a starter Monday, was recovering from surgery during preseason camp to replace a broken bone in his right hand. He had only recently returned to full contact work in practice and was expected to play Saturday against Western Carolina with a cast on his forearm. Sophomore Lorenzo Washington, who is listed behind Motley on the depth chart, is the anticipated replacement at nose tackle. Starter Motley injures ankle- al.com
