Expectations vs Reality

Simple question for the Bama Bunch.

How many games will Nick need to win in order to keep the fans happy?

What about the big games Fla, LSU, Aub, Tenn & Ga - how many of those must he win?

No BS here just the facts - I don't need to hear he will win them all - what will keep the fans supportive?

Win against LSU 28-0
Win against Auburn 24-21
Win against Florida 21-6
BCS depends on opponent

You my friend are the one who will be suprised. Will you still hold such low regard for them when they destroy Tennesee and spank LSU remaining undefeated?

Win against GA
Loss against LSU

As long as Saban gets the Tide to a decent bowl game, all should be well. It's not like anyone realistically expects them to go undefeated or anything.

Hardly low regard - more a touch of reality

I'll bet a dozen doughnuts (Krispy Creme) on the Ga - Al game. I hope both teams are undefeated when they meet - it will vault Ga into the top five after they win.

It figures {Krispy Kreme Doughnuts} I'm diabetic wouldn't you know. The only thing sweet will be when Alabama throttles the Bulldogs and remains unbeaten.

Re: Expectations vs Reality

To follow up on my earlier comments, I agree with what Rivals.com has to say: "He should have the Tide in SEC title contention within three years." Asking anything more than that is ludicrous, if you ask me. By the way, they have him as the 11th best coach in college football, behind fellow SEC coaches Urban Meyer, Steve Spurrier and Tommy Tuberville as well as behind Chris Peterson of Boise State, Jim Grobe of Wake Forest and Rich Rodriguez of WVU.

Well you forget Rivals is just one man's opinion. Given the bias that is out there you would believe Charlie Weiss or Pete Carroll was the best coach in the land. Besides Saban will let his teams actions speak for him about how good a coach he is.

I figure a tossup on the Georgia game

Loss againsst LSU if LSU lives up to the hype

A tossup against Arkansas

A win against Auburn

A win against Tennessee

A win over Florida State

Bama doesn't play the Florida Gators unless it is for the SEC championship

Re: Expectations vs Reality

W.Car: Basically a warm up game with just a fraction of the offense to be unveiled.
UA wins 37-13

Vandy: This has potential to be the biggest trap game of the year. Vandy has proven they can compete with and BEAT top SEC teams. A motivated , fired up and confident Vandy team could be a formidable foe on their home turf.
UA wins a hard fought game and gets a good test early , overal team speed is too much for Vandy.
UA wins 27- 17

Ark: 10,000 fans are turned away from an overflowing stadium which get to watch their home team open up the offense for the first time at home. The young Bama defense gets baptized by the Ark duo of McFadden and Jones. The young defense is carried by the offense and home field advantage of 93,000 fans .
UA wins 30- 24

UGA: The hype surrounding this game is so big that college Game DAY is on campus for the event! #16 ranked BAMA vs #11 Ranked UGA. The defense shows much signs of improvement and Simeon Castille picks off an early Matthew Stafford Pass and returns it for a TD. THe Bama offense picks apart the UGA defense as Wilson passes for a career high 374 yards in the air. The red zone offense plays particularly well scoring a TD on all 3 trips inside the 20.
UA wins 24-23

FSU: An undefeated UA team meets an undefeated FSU team in which old coaching ties are reunited. A chess match is played b/t Applewhite and Andrews on one side of the ball and on the other b/t Steel and Fisher. THere are 4 lead changes in this game even though it is a defensive battle. Trailing late in the game UA drives to attempt a 42 yard FG but it is blocked at time expires .
FSU wins 17-16.

The rest of the season to come later.
