| Re: Fire Nick Saban Just like he was a lifer at MSU, at LSU, with the Dolphins... oh yeah, Alabama is different. The only way he's fired in the next two seasons is if all this hype makes the actual improvement he makes in the team seem negligable, but there's always the chance that someone else will come a-callin' with a bigger payday. If and when that happens, I can't wait to see what Saban does (his history has already given me a pretty good idea what that would be). Sorry, Bama fans, nothing against your program, but your coach is a nomad, football's version of Larry Brown.

| Cnn News Sports & Weather According to a study to be published on Friday, two of the world's leading climatologists have gone on record saying that the extreme heat in the Southeast is not a result of global warming. The two Swedish experts have identified the source of the heat as being centralized in the great state of Alabama. According to their findings, it is a localized phenomenon that has occurred 9 times in the last 25 years. Apparently, every time the University of Alabama hires a new football coach the collective hot air espoused from the "Bama Nation" about National and Conference championships and premature recruiting "commitments" actually causes a significant increase in air temperatures in the Southern US. The study went on to confirm that the natural progression of the following events will cause the heat wave to subside rather rapidly after the first of September. Sorry all, I couldn't resist this one

| Re: Cnn News Sports & Weather How about the pressure from the fans is causing global warming. They already call Saban Satan in national magazines. So I guess they think Alabama is Hell. That must really be upsetting to other teams when they get told go to hell. Seriously, how do other teams view coming into Tuscaloosa? |

| Re: Fire Nick Saban Well, okay, here goes. 1983-86 Ray Perkins 4 32-15-1 .677 - Left Bama to coach Tampa Bay, later served as Offensive Coordinator for Patriots and Raiders, last served as Arkansas State University in 1992. 1987-89 Bill Curry 3 26-10 .722 - left Bama for Kentucky, currently a football analyst for ESPN and the director of the Leadership Baylor program at Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. 1990-96† Gene Stallings 7 62-25 .713 - member of President George W. Bush’s Commission on Intellectual Disability, on the boards of the Tandy Brand Corporation, People’s National Bank of Paris, Paris Regional Medical Center, Disability Resources, the Texas Rangers Law Enforcement Association, the Great Southern Wood Corporation, and the Boys and Girls Club of Paris, Texas; appointed to the Texas A&M Board of Regents by Governor Rick Perry in 2005 (various duties); caring for a son with Down's Syndrome. 1997-2000 Mike DuBose 4 24-23 .511 - current head coach of Millsaps College; named 2006 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Coach of the Year. 2001-02 Dennis Franchione 2 17-8 .680 - head coach of Texas A&M; 25-23 career record with the Aggies. 2002 Mike Price 0 0-0 .000 - current head coach of UTEP. Took a team that had two wins in each of their last two seasons and took them to the Houston Bowl. Managed to pretty much discredit the author of the Sports Illustrated article that led to his firing (SI settled a libel lawsuit out of court when it was revealed that the author paid off some of his sources and did not have notes or tape recordings of the conversations). 2003-06 Mike Shula 4 26-23 .531 - quarterback coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars. 2006‡ Joe Kines 1 0-1 .000 - hired as an officer with Tide Pride, which is responsible for helping to fund scholarships, generating revenue for capital improvements, and supporting the "Million Dollar Band," among other activities. 2007 Nick Saban - Current coach at Alabama. That about sum it up for you guys? Seems like most of them have landed on their feet pretty darn well. |

| Re: Fire Nick Saban Is that chum in the water? I thought so just because it is Crimson and is in the water doesn't mean it is safe. Sounds as if Simon has a nice hook to contend with. See Cliff if you are just patient enough they will take the bait every time. |
