| Washington gets shot with Motley out TUSCALOOSA - With nose tackle Brian Motley out this week with a hand injury that required surgery, sophomore backup Lorenzo Washington has had a chance to make an impression. Washington missed spring practice because of a torn pectoral muscle. "He's done OK," Saban said following Saturday's scrimmage. "Missing spring ball probably hurt him a little bit. He's made a lot of improvement in the few weeks that he's been with us. He's a big guy and he needs to learn the plays and I think he can contribute this year. "It's also given (freshman) Josh Chapman a chance to work a little bit with the (second-string), so both of those guys are getting an opportunity now." McCullough still learning: Freshman nose tackle Alfred McCullough of Athens is still playing like a freshman, Saban said. Alabama notebook- al.com
