All-SEC corner Castille faces disorderly conduct charge

TUSCALOOSA - University of Alabama cornerback Simeon Castille was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct early Sunday morning, but one of his mentors said Castille told him, "I thought the officer was joking at first."

Castille, 21, was arrested around 2 a.m. on the Strip in the 1300 block of University Boulevard near the UA campus. He posted bond shortly after being taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail, according to Tuscaloosa Police spokesman Capt. Greg Kosloff.

Castille, the senior from Birmingham's Briarwood Christian School who was a preseason All-Southeastern Conference selection, is scheduled to appear in court Monday, Aug. 27.

The arresting officer is an Auburn fan that let his predujice get in the way of his job. Now the Tuscaloosa PD is going to suffer for one rogue officers actions.

He was loud and unless he broke the decibel level of a noise ordinance it sounds as if officer mitchell stepped in deep poo. As a former law enforcement officer I can tell you he has brought unnecessary heat upon his department. Disorderly conduct by the crimibnal code of the State of Alabama defines it as fighting or refusing to obey police orders. As far as I know cursing was allowed by the 1st ammendment. The officer should have solved the incident by asking the parties to move along. Then everything would have gone away at 2am like it is supposed to. After all who hasn't been to a party and gotten loud afterwards even at the Waffle House?

If all this is over blasting the stereo loud then a warning shouldve been given but not jail, ive never heard of someone getting jail time over a noise violation unless the person got physical or abusive with the cop...I thought this was because he scrappy with the cop..

Guess the media is still hungry for anything bad related to Alabama. I wonder what they will say when the charges are dropped?

Re: Team Coverage: New Details on Castille's Arrest

heres the pdf of the official police report, http://tellfox.com/gda/Castillereport.pdf

so it says he was shouting cusswords to other people in vehicles, challenging passengers to fight him, backing up traffic while bouncing around in the street raising his hand in the air as if saying come get me, I believe all that would go under disorderly to me..

Being a fool is not disorderly conduct. Fighting is disobeying a direct order from police is. The cop overreacted. This is far from over the DA is reviewing the charges after Nifong this will get dropped and quickly before a black eye can be give to the department for mishandling it's civil duties.

When it comes to "laws" disorderly is disturbing the public peace or decorum..not submitting to discipline or control...unruly...causing trouble..

so check, check, and check.. the cops not hating on bama, he did what he was supposed to..read the police report..

I did and to say the least the guy doesn't have a strong command of the English language. The other thing that isn't being shown is the Captain's reports. The DA will throw out the charges.
