| Defense has a lot to tackle in establishing itself Alabama coach Nick Saban and his defense are hoping to reach the same conclusion. They want the same answers to the same questions. Heading into today's scrimmage, the second and final of the fall, all eyes will be on that side of the ball. The defense will go a long way in deciding which direction the season will go. "What's your trademark?" Saban asked. "You trying to be tough, relentless, run to the ball, play with a lot of effort and enthusiasm? That's what we're looking for." The scrimmage, which is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium, is closed to the public and the media. Saban said it will feature more situational work, more "move the field" scenarios, and more two-minute schemes. "We'll try to make at least a portion of it a lot more game-like for everyone," he said. "For the guy calling the plays, the guy calling the defenses, the quarterbacks getting the signals, the signal-callers on defense getting the calls. Because that's the next step in the progression of trying to get the team game-ready." Defense has a lot to tackle in establishing itself
