Redshirt freshman nose tackle Brian Motley may need surgery to repair an injured hand, coach Nick Saban said Thursday.
But Motley is expected to miss no more than a week of practice in a worst-case scenario.


Motley was not at practice Thursday.
"I don't think it's a serious injury," Saban said. "He was at the doctor (Thursday) morning to make a determination as to what they want to do. It's a small bone in his hand.
"They may have to do surgery but he should only be out five to seven days even if they do something like that."
Motley has been something of a Cinderella story for Alabama, redshirting last year as a center and then moving to defense before spring practice. And Motley quickly advanced to the top of the depth chart.
