With his first recruiting class being fitted for pads and tested for strength a floor below, University of Alabama coach Nick Saban addressed the media Thursday afternoon on the eve of the Crimson Tide's first scrimmage.

"[Prothro] is not medically ready to play football this season," Saban said. "We do have a plan for him medically, and we are hopeful he can come back and play someday."

What a shame. I'd really love for the kid to be able to come back and play someday.

i do feel bad for any amatuer not able to play a game they love due to injury ..... but, this bet is looking better and better for me

That doesn't mean he can't come into the locker room and give motivational speeches to the players. That may be the little something extra a silver bullet if you will to get Alabam into the position to win. If I were Saban you can bet I would make him an assistant of some type.
