On TV, Two Alabama Crimson Tide Games

Two Tide Games On Television

By Kirk McNair

Posted May 30, 2007

The first announcement of Southeastern Conference televised games has two Alabama SEC games announced for television. More games will be announced later, with many television selections coming within a week or two of kickoff.

Alabama games against Vanderbilt and Arkansas are in the first wave of SEC television announcments.
The Alabama-Vanderbilt game from Nashville on September 8 will be the SEC’s Lincoln Financial early game with kickoff shortly after 11:30 a.m. CDT.
A week later, the Arkansas at Alabama game will kick off at 5:45 p.m. CDT with national television coverage on ESPN.
SEC games are telecast by CBS as well as the various ESPN cable networks and the syndicated Lincoln Financial network. Additionally, games may be telecast by other networks when the SEC team is the visitor (as in the case of Tennessee at California this season on September 1 on ABC) or when the game is a neutral site.
Alabama’s best non-conference game this year is a neutral site contest against FSU from Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., on September 29. No television announcement has been made, but the game could be telecast by one of several networks, including CBS and ABC.
The SEC kickoff game will be LSU at Mississippi State on Thursday, August 30, on ESPN at 7 p.m. CDT.
On the opening Saturday, September 1, the lineup includes Oklahoma State at Georgia at 5:45 CDT on ESPN2, Kansas State at Auburn at 6:45 p.m. CDT on ESPN, and Tennessee at California at 7 p.m. CDT on ABC.
In addition to the Alabama-Vanderbilt game on September 8, other televised SEC games that day are (all times central):
South Carolina at Georgia on ESPN2 at 4:45, South Florida at Auburn on ESPN2 at 8, and Virginia Tech at LSU at 8:15 on ESPN.
In addition to the Arkanasas at Alabama game on September 15, television games are Mississippi State at Auburn at 11:30 a.m. on LFS and Tennessee at Florida at 2:30 on CBS.
Thursday, October 4, is Kentucky at South Carolina at 6:30 on ESPN.
Friday, November 23, is Ole Miss at Mississippi State at 11:30 on LFS and Arkansas at LSU at 1:30 on CBS. CBS will have doubleheader coverage of SEC games on October 6 (2:30 and 7) and November 24 (11 a.m. and 2:30). Alabama’s homecoming game on October 6 against Houston will be excluded from TV coverage, but the Crimson Tide’s November 24 game at Auburn is a strong possibility for one of the two CBS slots. CBS will televise the Southeastern Conference Championship Game from the Georgiadome in Atlanta on December 1. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. CST.
