A-Day Game Will Assist Tornado Disaster

A-Day Spring Football Game to Benefit Disaster Relief for Enterprise Release: 03/20/2007
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama will use the upcoming A-Day Spring Football Game as an opportunity to raise funds for disaster relief to aid the citizens of Enterprise, Ala., victimized by a tornado on March 1. The fund-raising effort will consist of donation stations to be set up at points of entry to Bryant-Denny Stadium during the event slated for Saturday, April 21. Kickoff of the annual A-Day Game is slated for 1:05 p.m. CST.
“Shortly after hearing of the tornado back on March 1, coach (Nick) Saban approached me about creating an opportunity to directly help those victimized by the tragedy,” said UA Director of Athletics Mal Moore. “I thought it was a wonderful idea, and something I feel we are uniquely able to do with such a major event coming soon to our campus. After speaking with (UA President) Dr. (Robert E.) Witt, it became evident that this is something the entire University of Alabama family can unite behind to help those folks out. This is a chance for all of us to make a real positive difference for people in our state.”
There is no charge for admission to the A-Day Game.

I think that it tis great that Saban suggested collecting for relief for tornado victims. My wife and I were in Enterprise 2 days after the storm hit to help military personel and severe damage was widespread.
