Who replaces Marshall? Now that recruiting is winding down and Alabama has a stong recruiting class, who will Saban replace Marshall with? I think most would agree that our offensive line was the downfall of the team last year and we need someone strong for as the OL coach. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything. Roll Tide!

Re: Who replaces Marshall? Isn't Kines Defense? Why would Alabama want a defensive mind as an offensive line coach? Does Kines have offensive line knowlegde? If he does I think he's a good fella and may be worth a try. Don't know if he would gel with Saban though.

Re: Who replaces Marshall? Kines is old school he knows both sides of the game. He understands blocking schemes and defenses as well as offense. I think he would fit because Saban understands just how much Kines loves the university.

Re: Who replaces Marshall? I love the university too but you wouldn't want me to be the offensive line coach. Where can I send my resume? Sounds like fun. See every game from the sidelines. Get cool Bama clothing

| Re: Who replaces Marshall? I just came across this info: KINES TAKES TIDE PRIDE JOB Thursday, February 08, 2007 IAN R. RAPOPORT News staff writer TUSCALOOSA - Former University of Alabama defensive coordinator Joe Kines has been hired as an officer with Tide Pride, a fundraising arm of the university, associate athletics director for media relations Doug Walker confirmed. Kines spent four years on the football staff of former coach Mike Shula, including serving as interim coach after Shula was fired. Like all of Shula's assistants, he was not re-hired by new coach Nick Saban. Efforts to reach Kines for comment were unsuccessful. Kines previously said he hoped to become the Tide's next head coach or at least stay on the football staff, but either way, he wasn't leaving Tuscaloosa. "My next move is going to be to heaven," Kines said in December. Kines, whose 40-year coaching career includes 16 jobs for nine teams, said he would take any job with the university. He couldn't retire because of too many bills to pay, he said then. If his coaching contract remains in effect, he is being paid $300,000 per year through June 2008. Had he not kept a job with the university, according to his contract buyout, he would have been paid only through May 2007. Tide Pride is responsible for helping to fund scholarships, generating revenue for capital improvements, and supporting the "Million Dollar Band," among other activities.

Re: Who replaces Marshall? FSU assistant turns down Tide Monday, February 12, 2007 By PAUL GATTIS Times Sports Staff paul.gattis@htimes.com Saban had lured one coach from Seminoles but can't get second Alabama coach Nick Saban couldn't raid the Florida State staff for a second assistant coach. John Lilly, who serves as the recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach under Bobby Bowden, interviewed for the vacancy on Saban's staff but has decided to remain with the Seminoles. Saban already has hired Kevin Steele away from Florida State to serve as the Tide's defensive coordinator. Steele coached linebackers at FSU. Lilly told the Tallahassee Democrat that he was offered a job by Saban. "The University of Alabama is a tremendous place," Lilly told the Florida newspaper in Sunday's editions. "They are going to do some tremendous things, but by the same token, I really love Florida State. It's very apparent there is about to be some special times here. This is the best decision." Saban is seeking an assistant to fill the spot opened when Steve Marshall left last month to become the offensive line coach with the NFL's Cleveland Browns. Saban's staff was complete until Marshall bolted about three weeks after he was hired. The start of spring practice is tentatively set for March 24, the school announced last week, and the A-Day spring game will be April 21.

Re: Who replaces Marshall? In his press conference on the recruiting class, he said one of the priorities now was filling the vacant assistant coach's position, so we should find out something soon. He also said he intended to "hide out" for a couple of days if he was able to find a place. Good luck, Nick!
