Question for Alabama fans...

Okay, so Alabama football is all that...

How come though when I run (like I am now) football card lots for different universities on e-bay, my Bama lots get a lot less hits then (and they then to run in this order) Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, FSU, Florida, Texas and USC...they have only been beating out Notre Dame, Colorado, California, and sadly Auburn...

What gives?...I thought I would be selling tons of Bama players at the rate you guys post and support your team?

Perhaps player selection?...

What are you using for search words? I have an Ebay account and would like to see.

Try something like 25 card lot Alabama Crimsom Tide....if you look at the others running with it...you can see that the Penn State lot has double the hits...

I plan to run more, so any suggestions would be welcomed...hey at least its doing better than Auburn huh?

Is this a shameless plug for your side business, or are you equating all true fans as card collectors?

Shameless plugs are much more creative...

I would say that the distribution should be rather even over a large sample of fans...and Bama fans seem to be very hardcore according to the number of posts we get...I am rather suprise that a school like Penn State would have twice the amount of visitors to the site...

I could understand a smaller school or one with less hardcore fans perhaps...

As it is, it might be player selection...I just don't see Bama role out to many NFL mega stars of late...with the exception of Shaun Alexander...

I could see that point.
However, the schools you listed have been, of late, "flavor of the month" media darlings.
Could just be new fans or band wagon jumpers "feeling the love".

If I wanted a mega stars card, I would get their pro rookie card.

Re: Question for Alabama fans...

Search under sports mem, cards, collectables.

I tried LSU, Alabama and Penn State and they looked pretty darn equal to me. Just the school name and see how much is available.

As for Alabama Crimson Tide being represented in the NFL

Re: Question for Alabama fans...

Gotham one reason is because we buy our season tickets as opposed to collecting cards. Plus collectibles just haven't caught on here in the South. Now NACSAR has done a better job marketing than the SEC. Still there is no thrill in holding on to an image for us. We look foward to the future beatings of our rivals. I do wonder just how many EA Sports College Football games have been sold in the south -vs- the rest of the nation.

Sorry, you miss understand...its not about how many listings...its that I get more hits on most of the other schools...

And, as far as card collecting goes...Bama does not offer big names these days...of course they produced Starr, Stabler and Namath...but of late only Alexander is big...

Florida has been known as New Jersey South so many Yankees move down there every year. Not to mention the thug culture for whatever reason likes the Florida schools.

Re: Question for Alabama fans...

I used to be a huge card collector. I am also an INSANE, FANATICAL, OBSESSED ALABAMA FAN. Now, for whatever reason, I never really was into collecting Bama football cards. I really can't say why. I stuck mostly with Baseball cards. I loved my Mantles, Koufax, Clemente, DiMaggio, Pee Wee, and Mays. I did a little NFL collecting, Starr, Namath (Both Bama Alums), Jim Brown, Walter Payton, and a few others but mostly Baseball cards. I had thousands. My pride and joy - 1955 Jackie Robinson was in MINT condition, I even had it rated and insured. WOW, those were the days. But back to the matter at hand, Can't explain why I never got into Bama football cards. I LOVE the tide, always have, and always will. I also can't explain why Alabama football is truly a way of life for us, and not just a sport. We are extremely proud and LOVE our tide, much like one might love their own heritage. Bama could go 0 and 12 and I would still openly confess my love and loyalty to our beloved Tide. I can't explain it, and anyone who is not a Bama fan will never understand it. Honestly, I don't even totally understand it. I just know that we Bama fans LOVE the Tide. In the LOVE ORDER line, the Tide ranks somewhere right their behind our kids and spouse. And in some cases, before the spouse. LOL>>> Hey, thats actually true in a lot of cases. I have been to Tuscaloosa hundreds of times, and to this day, I always get chills (Honestly, I get chill bumps) everytime I pull onto campus. I actually have chill bumps now, seriously, I have chill bumps right now just writing about it. I don't even have to go inside the stadium, just being on campus, outside the stadium and it doesn't even have to be football season. Its like embracing the most beautiful woman at the party. Chills. Unexplainable. God Love the Tide.

Wow, that pretty much describes the way most of us true bama fans feel every saturday, and this forum shows it is just as intense during the off season and spring drills. For a true Crimson Tide fan, Bama football is a way of life.

Roll Tide Roll

Re: Question for Alabama fans...

In response to the Bama players in the NFL, might want to check these out:

Mark Anderson, DE for the Bears (One hell of a DE)
DeMeco Ryans, LB Texans
Fernando Bryant CB Lions (Pretty darn good one)
Roman Harper, S Saints
Brodie Croyle Future QB of the Chiefs
Anthony Madison CB Steelers
DeShea Townsend CB Steelers
Chris Samuels, LT Redskins, (One of the best LTs in the game)
Anthony Bryant, DT Bucs
Shaun Alexander, RB Seahawks, oh yes, and the 2005 NFL MVP

And their are several others also, Shaud Williams, Bills, and others. And those are just the ones that are currently active. We can go back a few years and talk about Namath, Starr, Scott Hunter, Tony Nathan, Marty Lyons, Barry Kraus, EJ Junior, George Teague, Antonio Langham, John Copeland, Eric Curry, John Hand, Dwight Stephens, John Hannah, Leroy Jordan, Kenny Stabler (Snake), Ozzie Newsome (Besides setting numerous NFL records for TEs, is now the General Manager for the Cleveland Browns). And there are numerous others I want mention due to space and time. But yes, Alabama is well represented in the NFL, and always has been. And I'm sure we'll continue in the future.

Re: Question for Alabama fans...

Oh, one other thing of interest, Notice above how I said I WAS once a huge card collector, my 1955 Jackie Robinson WAS my pride and joy. But notice that the Tide IS, and ALWAYS will be. Two things in this life are certain, I was born a BAMA fan, and will die a Bama fan. Not many BECOME a Bama fan, most are BORN a Bama Fan. For most of us, IT IS A BIRTH RIGHT!! Most of my shirts have Bama on them, my hats Bama, well one Peterbuilt hat. Most of my kids' clothes have some sort of Bama Logo on them. My tag on the front of my truck, BAMA. My wife, from Singapore,,,,, wait, what,,, how,,,,,, Oh don't worry, she was introduced to the family and made a few trips to the Capstone as a baptism, and for her wedding present, an Alabama T-Shirt. Seriously, thats being part of my family. Nothing like a beautiful asian goddess in an Alabama T-shirt yelling ROLL TIDE!!! After 15 years of marriage, she still understands the whole Bama thing, and in fact, the once soccer chic, is now an avid rabbid BAMA FAN. Beware America, We recruit, we breed, we assimilate a few lucky ones into our collective. ROLL TIDE!!! THIS IS A TRUE STORY!!!
