Saban Says Alabama Is His Final Stop

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Nick Saban couldn’t escape his college roots, so he quit trying.

Saban was introduced as Alabama’s coach on Thursday, touting his championship aspirations and citing his love of college football as a reason for taking a pay cut to leave the Miami Dolphins.

In other words, he said the things Crimson Tide fans most wanted to hear.

“My heart’s here. I love it here,” he said. “I like to affect people, and that’s why I’m here. This is obviously one of the best places in the country to have an opportunity to do that.”

Taking over a program with a rich tradition led by the late coach Bear Bryant, who won five national titles, Saban refused to dwell in the past.

The legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant whose record at the University of Alabama was 232-46-9. He led the Crimson Tide to some form of a national title in 1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, and 1979, which is tied with Notre Dame's legendary coach Knute Rockne.

Glad he finally found it...cause he searched and searched and it wasn't anywhere near the Florida East Coast.

Florida is mostly swamp and sand. At Alabama he found something called firm ground a place where things are slow to change{Unless you Lose}. When he wins the BCS in 2007 his place in history will be cemented.

As far as affecting people, man has he ever. Bowden is hot at him over Steele and Fisher, not to mention all of the recruits sliding out of thier commitments. If Bobby doesn't stem the bleeding he may get fired after next season. Urban Meyer is pretty hot too he had the #1 quarterback out of Florida till Saban took the job now the kid is going to Tuscaloosa. Miami is upset over thier prized 6'5 219lb 4/5/40 reciever changing his commitment. Lastly South Florida lost a couple of prized recruits and a assistant coach. The Dolphins are just out and out furious over thier losses. So it's easy to see why Nick's heart is in Alabama.
