I think every UA fan in this forum that called for MM's head should write him a letter and tell him what a great job he did in getting Saban.... Noone at the start of this thing included me thought he would get saban.... Well he did and just about every UA fan I have talked to on this forum and others with the expection of a few including myself did not want MM fired ..... Now that he has Saban all I see is ooo I love MM.... MM you did such a good job through this search.... The same people are saying these things... From the very beginning I have said I don't think MM should be fired becasuse he is the AD, not just the football AD though... He has done a terrific job with everything to do with athletics at UA exepct hiring a great football coach in the last 10 years.... terrific facilities.... B-ball team is great both mens and womens... they have nice facilities.... the baseball and softball teams are good with great facilities.... So I never saw a reason other than the Football Hc problem as to why he should be fired.... And thats just not enough in my book..

I agree with you 100%, koko. Even just looking from the football standpoint of things and not taking into account all the other good things he's done for the university, the fact that fans are this pumped up about the Saban hire tells me that he did a good job, even if he did have to take some heat in the process. On the other hand, he really stuck his neck out there with this one. I mean, with the money he offered Saban (though less than initially reported), if for some reason the new head coach DOESN'T work out, then Moore's REALLY put his job on the line. Mal did better in this search than the others but how many times must one screw up before you get the Football head coach right and lets not forget that Mal and Dr. Witt just a year ago did the most stupid thing ever
with Mike Shula which Alabama will pay untill 2012. These guys are supose to control the business side of the program and have not done a good job in this area. Also dont think it takes much to convince one who wants back in the college level.

He has done a good job in improvements to facilites overall and getting the other programs better. But most of the fans only follow Football and Mal Has failed in the most important by most. I do follow the other sports programs at the University. Yes Nick Makes Mal look good now thats why its time for Mal to retire and go out on top and not be fired and i have never said he should be fired.

A great job?...A great job would be to get him for half the price tag...opennig up a checkbook to whatever sum your boosters can pony up, by definition is not a great job...and fool can write a great big check...a good negotiator would sell him on the job for less.

I understand what you are saying about how much they are paying NS but why would it matter.... It is not coming from the University... It wouldn't matter how much they payed him..... I think they got him for as cheap as they could... Remeber who his agent is Jimmy Sexton.... I'm sure he wouldn't have aproved of Nick leaving the dolphins if they wasn't going to make him the highest paid college coach for right now.... Did anyone see that Bob Stoops has a clause in his contract that he has to make $1 more than the highest paid coach.... That is amazing..... But, UA done what they had to do and got the person they really wanted and I don't think anyone can say they didn't do a good job if thats what their goal was and they got it done.... Only time will tell if it was a good decision

My argument is the same...Moore is no better than any guy who opens up a check book and say, "How much do you want?"...I hope that the good people of Alabama would expect more from an AD...

So yes, if you want to rate him as a good AD, it does matter how much money is laid out, it does matter where it comes from etc...if not, just give the AD job to the booster with the biggest back account and cut out the middle man.

Ya, and thats the sad thing about college football now a days.... Thats all it is.... SHOW ME THE MONEY.... And up til now UA has not been like that.... They wouldn't just pay someone like NS that much money to coach 40, 20 or even 5 years ago... But, they are realizing that times have changed and if you want one of the best you have to pay for it... Back in the day UA had tradition to rely on... But, all of that is gone now.... Their is no more tradition in college football.... Its all about the money...
