Your quarterback is John Parker Wilson, for starters. Unless he improves by leaps and bounds, it will not happen. On top of that, your ground game is saturated with uncertainty. Kenneth Darby is gone after this year, as are both fullbacks in LeRon McClain and Tim Castille. If I recall correctly, your graduating a few hogs along the offensive line too.

There are even question marks at defense. Your losing the cog on the interior of the defensive line in Jeremy Clark. The stud of the linebackers in Juwan Simpson is gone and so is Ramzee Robinson in the secondary.

Your setting yourself up for disappointment if you keep ranting and raving about a BCS Bowl. The Crimson Tide may cement themselves on the National Stage once again, but programs aren't rebuilt overnight.

Wilson will improve under professional guidence. Darby had no buisness playing anyway Jimmy Johns is much better and the we have Mr. Ford. The kid from Jacksonville Fla 6'4 249 4/5/40 is coming in to replace Mcclain {Hey Carolina Panthers here is a guy you ought to look at} Shula was a good recruiter and alot of underclassman got some time in. Just think what Steele can do with this not to mention Saban's recruits. So don't you worry ALABAMA will be there. We did sign the #1 offensive lineman and the #5 defensive lineman and others will be rethinking thier commitments to other schools. Try TIDER INSIDER for some up to date info. I'm thinking you were one of the ones who laughed when it was said Saban was coming. That came true and so will BCS 2007.
ROLL TIDE ROLL !!!

Wilson will probably improve under professional guidance. However, he cannot just continue with his natural progression if the Crimson Tide expect a BCS Bowl in 2007. He has to take two steps forward if the Alabama programs wants to attempt those same two steps.

Darby had no business playing? He may not be a stud, but he is the type of player that does everything well. Darby was a tough, natural runner that carried the load for the Crimson Tide the past three seasons. In fact, he was 180 yards away from becoming the first Alabama running back to top the thousand yard mark three times. And yet you disrespect your own talent.

Jimmy Johns seems to have played well in limited time. He may be able to get the Crimson Tide around a thousand yards on the ground, but I have a hard time seeing too much more.

Last I saw, Mike Ford was academically ineligible.

Saban and Steele are a formidable tandem that will certainly get the defense to overachieve. However, getting a good defense to play very good isn't enough to earn you a spot in the BCS. I'm sorry.

I am the first to admit that I didn't think Nick Saban was going to jump ship and go to Alabama. I am also the first to admit I was wrong. Apparently, I am a bad judge of character. I had Saban pegged as a guy that didn't quit on his team. I thought he valued loyalty and commitment. But, I was wrong. He is a headhunter that chases the money and not the Title.

What you're telling me is you didn't know how the game is played he who has the gold makes the rules. He who doesn't read the small print is a fool. Life is short in the NFL and the greedy owners brought about this type of behavior when they introduce free agency. All the coaches decided what is fair for the goose is fair for the gander. Now colleges are doing the same.

Now see, I already offered you a point on that...let it go man, let it go...get back to defending the BCS appearance...

Re: LET the JEALOUS Remarks begin, it's been a while!

Gotham you have agreed with me on several points. When Saban gets his hardnosed coaches in there Alabama is going to be the best disciplined team in the SEC and probably the nation. Young skulls full of mush can be molded into leaders. The talent can only execute what they have been taught to do and Saban will teach them to win it all. So I stand by my statement ALABAMA BCS 2007.

I am fully aware that money is becoming king in college. I am a diehard Ohio State fan, who has a nine-figure budget for their thirty-six teams, which tops the nation in both categories.

I don't have a problem that he did it. I have a problem with how he did it. Declining comment is the right public relations move in that situation. Indignantly denying any rumors while your agent meets with the athletic director is a blatant lie. If you feel as though your heart is still in the college ranks, then fine. But don't play double agent, either decline comment or shoot straight.

Anyway, the BCS Bowl has turned into a BCS Title?

Oh no I don't think you guys know just yet, fro arguments sake lets assume Jim wins another title. Well if Saban is worth 40mil and he only won one title then what do you think Jim's agent is going to tell Ohio State? PAY UP! To the tune of 80million agents are brash like that, and if they don't an NFL team like Oakland just might. Besides in today's climate the news media just wont let it go when you say no comment. They will hound the living daylights out of a coach absolutley to the point of a major distraction affecting the performance of the current team. Not to mention how they put suspicions in the minds of owners and fans alike.
So blame the media, once Bear Bryant was asked to donate ten dollars for the funeral of a media member that covered his team. Bear gave them a twenty and said bury two of them. The media and it's insatiable appetite has given rise to the papparizzi of college football. That's whythe next thing you will see is decoys and look-a-likes so caoches can find the time to do what they do best coach players not answering the same worn out speculations of some know it all sports analyst.

I don't disagree that Alabama will have a disciplined team. However, there are several teams in college football that have plenty of discipline but lack overall talent. And in the end, talent trumps most everything else. Unfortunately for Alabama, they have the fourth best team in the SEC West talent-wise.

You honestly believe that Saban can teach them everything he knows in a handful of months? Saban is a great coach, but the task you are asking of him is not only Herculean, it's impossible. For the record, do you think that the other SEC coaches are going to sit in their offices and watch repeats of Friends while Saban is at work? Every other SEC team will be working just as hard.

Alabama's record does not reflect thier talent level. Arkansas Nutt just flat out coached Shula. Even poor old Croom got lucky. There are plenty of good young players who just need direction and Saban brings a powerhouse to the table. That's why you need ESPN Gameplan so you can record the games next season. Bama is Back!

Actually, I do understand. Tressel is obviously going to want more money because he is the best coach in college football. But, to assume that the starting price is going to be $80 million because he has won twice the National Championships is absurd. Ohio State already pays him around $3 million per year, so his price will only go up a couple million. His agent may be brash, but he wants to get paid too and he knows that no college would approve an $80 million contract.

I don't put too much stock into Tressel leaving for the NFL. He has said numerous times that the NFL is an acronym for Not For Long. He seems like a permanent college coach to me.

Let them keep asking. Eventually, they'll get the picture. At the time of Saban's name being floated in talks, there was only one or two games left for the Dolphins. They were clearly out of contention, so what would it really affect?

Re: LET the JEALOUS Remarks begin, it's been a while!

The only thing I have to say about this is, wow Nick Saban is a complete disgrace in my mind. He came in with a mission to revamp the Dolphuns franchise, and leave it a mess to go back to college. He just didnt want to put in the work to become a great NFL coach. He wanted to go to somewhere where the Head Coach is more of an icon than the players. That makes me sick. If I was a recruit I wouldnt want to play for him not a cop out NFL bust coach, especially for a rebuilding Bama team. Sure Bama might regain some respect but I think very little in the tough SEC. Too many other teams are on the rise. Maybe in a few years Bama fans. This coach isnt going to make them a National Champion anytime soon. Look at Spurrier in S. Carolina, nothing special in my mind. Saban to Bama = not a big deal in my mind. Just a cop out by an insecure man. Bama fans you may finally have a coach but you sill dont have the team yet. Good luck. And to Saban, look at yourself in the mirror buddy! You just lost a lot of respect!

Perhaps Alabama is more talented than their record indicates. But, you will have a hard time convincing me that they are more talented than LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas. Will Saban make them overachieve? Yes. Will it be enough to get into the BCS? No.

It was a great hire, but it doesn't ensure immediate admission into a major bowl.

First off the players quit trying that was frustrating for Saban. He couldn't get those lazy injury prone overpaid crybabies to play with heart they were a bunch of gutless cowards. Secondly Wayne is shopping the franchise to an owner who was thinking about moving the franchise talk about stabbing the city. So when you put yourself in Saban's shoes you kinda begin to see what he's facing. Get a deal done with Alabama and try to keep it quiet or blurt it out there for the media. Then Wayne loses a sale. Like you said it''s all about the money and everybody wants some.
