LOL @ simon trying to push some buttons.

Saban is a great college football coach. And besides, compared to how they felt two weeks ago, 'Bama fans must feel like they just won the Sugar Bowl.

Just as we all have been saying about you yankees-you just don't get it! Being from the NE you don't and can't understand college football in the south. My Mother was from NY and I still have many relatives up there. I'm a season ticket holder and when I go to visit they simply cannot comprehend that I schedule my visits around the Bama football schedule. I had to schedule my wedding around the games. It is a way of life and one I really enjoy! Call it Kool-Aid or whatever you want, but I remember it wasn't so long ago that grown men were crying in the streets when the Red Sox finally beat the curse of the Big Bambino!

GaBamaGirl, everything you wrote about Northerners not getting southern football is almost correct. What you should have said is that there is no way a guy from NE could understand ALABAMA football. I am from FLA and grew up there. I had the privilage of going to college in Al. When I got there, it became very apparent that what they do in Al was very special. So as is the "right of passage", I chose Alabama as my football team. Not to choose meant extradition back to FL. Roll Tide! Thanks Nick!

Hi Nick, I know about jumping ship! I grew up going to GA games. My Dad played at GA and he had season tickets until he died. I just knew I had to get away from the Bulldogs and Al was the only chose. Even with all the glory of GA it never was and never will be BAMA! You are so right Al is special.

Re: Saban Kool-Aid

GaBamaGirl has something. Us in the northeast don't realize the magnitude that college football has in midwest, south and even to some extent in the west. There's just next to no real coverage of local colleges around these parts (safe for a bit on Rutgers, Syracuse, UConn, etc.).

Maybe it has little to do with the coverage and more to do with a diversity of other activities to chose from that rival it...

I'm not saying why it is different or even that it is better- it just is! Now I live in Atl and do many other activities than Bama football, but Bama football rules over all other events and/or activities. In fact my husband complained that all our kids were born in the fall and that all their b-day parties would mess up football season!

Say which conference has the biggest stadiums? What school has the most attendance all year? I'm sure Lefty could probably tell us.

I would venture to say that the SEC has the biggest stadiums from top to bottom, but I know that the Big 10 registered three of the top four spots in attendance. Michigan came in first, Penn State came in second, and Ohio State came in fourth this year. For the record, Alabama was seventh.

I know for a fact that football in the midwest is just as big as football down south.
