| Re: Will he accept? do you really think he has given up on Pro Football already? I am sure he gets a lot more money at MIami than he could ever get at Bama .... I can't see him changing ... to go back to college. He had one of the best jobs at LSU and went to the pros. He will never be thought of better than the Bear ... so what is there to gain? |

Actually there is a lot to gain. If the next coach can come into this program, turn it back to where it should be and remain successful, his likeness will probably be placed up there with Bryant. The challenge to return a program to its proper place among the GODS seems (to me) the type of challenge any truly competitive coach/player would seek out. This is the perfect chance for a coach to make a name for himself, whether it be good or bad. As a person who thrives on competition in the work place, I can't see how this task could be discouraging to any top-notch coach, especially since their ego's are usually the deciding factors in their professional ventures. People discuss money as a priority and I do agree that to most coaches it is. However, when we are talking 5 million to a rumored 2.5-3 million yearly, how much is their quality of life really gonna change? To me the question really is ego. Who is willing to risk the weight they can currently throw around for possibly an infinite amount? JMO |

| Re: Will he accept? I understand there is a challenge ... but recruiting at Bama is not difficult. Stallling had success and they ran him off eventually. Even if you win NC's at Bama .. so what .. it has been done before many times. Nobody is going to win as many as the Bear did. Nobody will ever be thought of as well as the Bear was either. The great college coaches go to the NFL for the challenge. I don't think Saban is convinced he has failed in the NFL yet. I don't think he will take another job until he admits defeat in the NFL. Then I see him coming back, taking over an unsuccessful team in a major conference and trying to take them to the top. This is what Spurrier is doing. He hated the NFL and wanted to come back and show the world he was the best college coach in the game. I think Saban has the challenge in front of him that he wants. Many great coaches have failed miserably in the pro ranks ... and he has a chance to not be one of them. ... but who really knows what he is thinking!!! |

| I just talked to an old college buddy of mine who is an asst. trainer for Miami. Word around the campfire there is that Saban is leaving. He is unhappy about the emminent sale of the team and has an offer from Alabama. Word is, he will accept the deal the week after Reg-Season. |

| Re: Will he accept? The silence is due to Mal messing up SOOOOO many times in public he's learned to keep his mouth shut and find a coach! |

| Re: Will he accept? Saban needs to take himself to Bama he is soft like coton candy and doesnt belong in the NFL. Saban should have never left coaching college kids, coach cant cut it in the bigggs. He came down here to Miami and look were still in the same boat as we were with Dave. Another Big shot dud.......pufffffffff |

| Re: Will he accept? FAct is that nobody wants the alabama job because the expectations are unrealistic. Why go to a school when a 10-2 year doesn't buy you one rebuilding year? Shula was fired for what? For being on probation and trying to make the team respectable again? That is like saying Miami should have fired Butch Davis when he first got there .. He cleaned house and they were around .500 for a while. Fact is Alabama is not a premier job anymore. They are in a conference that is getting tougher and tougher every year. They will not hire a big name coach unless that coach is without a job and needs one. |

| Re: Will he accept? No he has not... His contract prohibits him from talking with anyone til after the season is over... |

A pay raise and a good job a year from now..... If he has another season like this one and doesn't atleast make it to the AFC championship game; or if they sell the team, he will be fired.... What great coach would want to get fired.... |
