12 National Championships and still no respect

For those of you who didn't see it, this is ESPN's best football team of all time. Ya Alabama's on their once. Are you freaking kiding me?? One time. I bet they just did that because their colors would for sure show then. I really don't think anyone else that is not a UA fan understands how bias ESPN is of us. These people are Idiots and Lou Holts is the dumbest one. Someone told me he said that Ohio State should advance in their little best all time team game they are playing. He also said the '68 Ohio State team was Disciplined just like Notre Dame was and that Bryant never could beat a disciplined team, "never ever ever ever beat Notre Dame". I mean where is this clown coming from. Who is he to say this. How many rings does he have. Does he really think people think he was a great coach. I mean if someone with some creditablilty was saying this it might go over a little better. But not Lou Holts. Anyways here is the link if you want to look at how ESPN thinks it would play out.

Re: 12 National Championships and still no respect

No surprise that ESPN would slam Bama. Even before ESPN the national media loved to beat up on Bama and nothing has changed! We know what Bama football is all about and the h**l with the rest of them.

Re: 12 National Championships and still no respect

Alabama has had one National Championship since Paul Bear Bryant which I believe was in 1992. And they have had 4 or 5 good years since the 1992 season. Why should they be respected. Bama needs to prove itself once again that it can play for more than one or 2 different coaches. And the alumni and boosters need to allow the coach time to prepare and cultivate a team. You are not the Bama of old. And it may never return to that.

I know what you mean. But what ESPN was doing was comparing teams of the past. We won 12 national championships in the past. Ok, they put one of those teams on their thing. It doesn't matter how many we won since 92. And Why should they be respected??? 12 NC'S IS WHY!!! TELL ME HOW MANY OTHER SCHOOLS CAN SAY THEY HAVE 12 OR MORE?? NOT MANY They put like 5 of USC in their little playoff. I really don't see where they get that from. I mean they left out abunch of great years that should have been in their. ??? So you mean you are telling me that UA should have only 1 team on that ballot? And its like I said before, if your not a bama fan you wouldn't know what ESPN does. It's crazy how bias they are toward not only the SEC but UA.

Thumbs down Re: 12 National Championships and still no respect

No disrepect for FLA because I am an SEC loyalist, but how many NC's do these other schools have? It is so disrepectful to have the most NC's in NCAA history and you are only mentioned once on the ALL TIME greatest teams. Everyone says hey, Bama hasn't won a NC since '92. This was not a comparison of teams since the '90's or '80's or even 70's it was ALL TIME. Oh and by the way the '61 team that lost to Miami had only 3 TD's scored against them all year!

Re: 12 National Championships and still no respect

HERE IS THE REASON UA DESERVES SOME RESPECT FOR ANYONE WHO DOESN'T THINK THEY DO.

Most national championships

This is a source of much debate. Before 1901 the national title was dominated by teams that are now members of the Ivy League. Yale and Princeton each claim as many as 24 national championships. However, Yale's last title was in 1927 and Princeton's was in 1935 (according to Dunkel, not reflected above). The University of Michigan won the first non-Ivy League national championship in 1901 (game played in January, 1902).
To settle countless arguments, Sports Illustrated in 1970 researched the first and only complete and wholly accurate list ever compiled of college football's mythical national champions. Every recognized authority that ever presumed to name a No. 1 was included: Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame, United Press International and many other authorities. At that time they claimed Notre Dame had the most national championships with 17, Alabama with 13, Yale 13, Princeton 12, USC 10, and Pittsburgh 9. [2]
Using only the sources from the National Championship Foundation or the "consensus" champion, the following teams have won the most championships since 1901:
Team Recognized titles Winning years Notre Dame 13 1924, 1929, 1930, 1938, 1943, 1946, 1947, 1949, 1953, 1966, 1973, 1977, 1988 Alabama 11 1925, 1926, 1930, 1945, 1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1992 USC 11 1928, 1931, 1932, 1939, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1974, 1978, 2003, 2004 Oklahoma 9 1949, 1950, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1985, 2000 Michigan 7 1901, 1902, 1932, 1933, 1947, 1948, 1997 Ohio State 7 1942, 1944, 1954, 1957, 1961, 1968, 2002 Minnesota 6 1934, 1935, 1936, 1940, 1941, 1960 Miami (FL) 5 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, 2001 Nebraska 5 1970, 1971, 1994, 1995, 1997 Pittsburgh 5 1916, 1918, 1936, 1937, 1976 Georgia Tech 4 1917, 1928, 1952, 1990 Harvard 4 1910, 1912, 1913, 1919 Tennessee 4 1938, 1950, 1951, 1998 Texas 4 1963, 1969, 1970,

ITS NOTHING IN PARTICULAR. I MEAN ITS JUST THEIR REPORTING. HOW THEY TALK ABOUT THEM. WHAT THEY REPORT. LOOK AT USC. WHAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO REGGIE BUSH AND THE $100,000 THAT HE GOT PAID. WHY HAS ESPN NOT BEEN ON TOP OF THAT. IF IT WAS UA I KNOW THEY WOULD BE ALL OVER IT. THEY ARE JELIOUS THAT OUR FANS CARE SO MUCH ABOUT FOOTBALL, AND WOULD DO ANYTHING TO WIN. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON I CAN THINK OF. THE ONLY PERSON THAT I KNOW OF TO GIVE RESPECT TO THE SEC IS HURBSTREET. OTHER THAN HIM, JUST ABOUT EVERYONE HATES THE SEC. WHO IS YOUR FOOTBALL TEAM?

WELL IF IM NOT MISTAKEN UF HAS ONLY 1 CHAMPIONSHIP WIN. IM NOT SAYING THEY SHOULDN'T BE IN THEIR FOR THAT ONE, I REALLY DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THEM TO DEBATE IT. I KNOW SPURRIER WAS LIKE 150-25 OR SOMETHING WHILE HE WAS THEIR. I REALLY DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE TO WIN TO BE IN IT, BUT WHO REALLY CARES. I JUST STARTED THIS THREAD TO SHOW PEOPLE HOW BIAS THEY ARE. LOOK AT THE BRACKET CLOSELY. THEY HAVE 2 SEC TEAMS OUT OF 34 TEAMS. HOW DO YOU GET THAT. THE BEST CONFERANCE IN THE NATION GETS 2 TEAMS IN??? TELL ME THAT IS NOT BIAS.

ESPN.com: SPORTSNATION - ESPN Classic's All-Time Greatest College Football Playoff

BY THE WAY I EMAILED ESPN AND TOLD THEM NEXT TIME TRY NOT TO BE SO BIAS. IT CLEARLY SHOWED THAT THEY WAS TOWARD THE SEC. I ALSO TOLD THEM TO MAKE SURE THEY CHECK LOU HOLTS NOTES BEFORE HE GETS ON THE AIR NEXT TIME SO HE WANT MAKE A FOOL OUT OF HIMSELF.

Re: 12 National Championships and still no respect

Well Lou Holtz is whole different situation. He about jumps out of his seat when the work Notre Dame or South Carolina is said.

I agree that there is way too much love for USC, but that is a golden ticket for them right now. There day in the spotlight will not always be there. I'm sure if ESPN would have been around during their prime when Bryant was the coach, there would be plenty of people upset becase BAMA would get all the coverage.

It goes back to that old saying "What have you done for me lately?"

I don't respect Bama because no one will ever live up to the lofty expectations that you have set for them, that is why it is going to be tough hire for you guys and we will be talking about this same thing in a couple of years.

If this is such a good job for an elite coach, then why has it not been filled yet?

If you don't respect UA then you don't respect football or anything to do with it. Respect is something that is earned over the years and UA has earned that respect. If people doesn't want to give it to them for one reason or another that is there ignorant fault. If someone is going to respect USC, ND, Texas or any other prestigious program, then UA has to be in the same catagory, which they are. That all goes back to my bias factor. And for the coaching job goes, we do not set to high of expectations. I don't think asking a coach to have a winning season more than 1 out of 4 years is asking to much. The other coaches we have had in recent years have not been fired because of their coaching. ND was in the same situation a couple of years ago and we have had the same amount of coaches as they have had since the 80's. I will not panic until the first week in January is up. If by then we do not have a coach something is bad wrong. The next couple of week is dead weeks anyways.
