I Give Up!!!!

I Am Just 22 Years Old,and Have Not Seen It All, But This Has Got To Be The Most Embarrasing Moment In College Football. From What Rod Has Said Today I Don't Beleive He Was Ever Going To Come. I Think He Was Just Using Ua As Leverage To Get More Money For Him, His Staff, And Udgrades. But Who Really Knows What Is Going On. I Will Tell You One Thing Though When He Done That Press Conferance Today Atcing Like He Didn't Even Know Ua Wanted Him Was Low. He Acted Like What Ua, Who Is That, They Offered Me How Much Money. He Just Acted Clueless. Why Else Would He Drag This Out All The Way. Money Is The Answer. That Is The Only Reason I Can Think Of Is He Wanted To Stay There, But He Wanted More Money And This Was The Only Way He Was Going To Get It. Take It Almost All Of The Way, Make Wv Think He Is Leaving And Then At The Last Moment When They Give In Say He Doesn't Want The Job.

Sadly, it looks as though Coach Rod played you guys for his own benefit. That's a shame, if it's how it looks. Where do you think your coaching search goes to now, koko?

Well Empire no I can't blame him. If I wanted to stay at my home state but get more money I guess I would do the same. I just didn't like the way he acted in his press conferance, acting like it was some big surprise. It might have been, he might have honestly now known what he was going to do, but I can't think so.

And Lefty, I have idea. I really don't think it matters. The recruits that we do have a verbal commitment with is already looking at other schools. So, with the dagger to the heart I really don't think it matters. I just don't want them to hurry up with it now. It has done been 2 weeks. The damage has been done, so they need to take their time and go after someone that can help us, unlike the Shula hire. If we have to make Kines the interm head coach I would do that before I made a mistake in hiring someone just to hire someone.

I agree with you 100% - at this point, Moore can't rush things, and he certainly can't allow any more premature reports of hirings to get out. It just makes your program look bad. At this point, I don't have any idea who is still left on your list, but I have a feeling it'll probably wind up being Croom, unless he's still miffed about not getting the offer when Shula was hired.

I hope it is not Croom. I would rather Shula come back then to have Croom as the head coach. I know he was done what he can at Miss. State, but I just don't think he is a good fit at UA. I really think we need to go outside of the UA family on this hire. Someone with no strings attached here. That has been one of out problems in the past couple of years. The only reason Shula got hired is because of his dad, and Ray Perkins. He's another person that needs to leave T-town.

Re: I Give Up!!!!

Another poster elsewhere on the board suggested giving Kines a full year, just to see what he can do. If he succeeds, then you've found your guy. If not, then at least you can cherry-pick candidates next fall. What do you think about this possibility?

I fully agree with that if we can't get a proven winning head coach in more than one place. Their are a couple still out their we need to try to go after, quitly without media attention. If they turn us down, then yes I think either hire Kines, or I heard on FineBaume the other day when he was interviewing stallings, He said he would accept it for a short time to get them back on track. That might be the way to go.
