Re: Coach Rodriguez Turned Down Alabama

If we can't have Spurrier, then I would opt to have Mike back.

Re: Coach Rodriguez Turned Down Alabama

Alabama fans get a bad rap, as someone stated there is no profesional sport team here in Alabama. However have you ever heard of a city in Alabama rioting because of a championship won. Look at other places all over the country after a championship is won the people go stupid. Before anyone has the right to talk about Alabama/Auburn fans they might need to clean their own back yard.

With an offer in hand this gave him immediate power to re-negotiate a better contract at West Virginia. WVU came under some great pressure from the thought that Rich could possibly be leaving. This is no different in the normal everyday job market. People do this type of thing every day, but you best be sure you have secured a better offer and you bring great value to the organization before you hint that you might be leaving to take another job. It once worked for me. I did not want to leave my job, but I had another company offering some incentives I could not ignore. I got the offer letter in hand and then went to talk to my boss that I was considering a move with an offer in hand. It netted an increase in salary very quickly that normally would have taken 10 years to reach. However, if you try to pull this trick more than once, you might find yourself actually taking the other offer to call your bluff. It is a risk, but the rewards can be great. Risk management... Risk takers know the rewards can be big.

Now the burden is on Rich to perform at the next level. Fans can be fickle as we know in Alabama, but they are no different in WV either.

Whew! Now I can keep my Gator Bowl tickets on the 50-yd line.

As a recruiter who deals with this everyday I can tell you fear for your job. They are looking to replace you. If you do not believe me go to google and type in counter offer and read the articles that pop up.

Everyone like you says {It's not gonna rain} Saban isn't coming. Insiders say {It is gonna rain like Noah said} he not only will be head coach he will be AD cause Mal Moore is stepping down according to sources tied to the Huntsville paper.

Re: Coach Rodriguez Turned Down Alabama

so he is playing hard to get? You do know that those papers and their sources down their failed miserably with coach rod right? I just dont see him moving back to the college ranks, many coaches like charlie weis and pete carol the coaching ranks are there best situations. But i think Nick Saban would get a job offer from the new york giants if he got fired from the dolphins, he seems to be the guy that wants to prove he can coach on all the levels.

Hey Mervinout:

You Yankees just don't understand how we do things down here. A gentleman's agreement has been reach but they don't go blabbing about it until the ink is dry. Saban will be the next coach check out the Mobile Register and the Huntsville Times.

Um... not to nitpick, but didn't the whole Rich Rodriguez story get leaked? Someone went blabbing about that before the ink was dry, and I believe it was the Mobile paper, was it not? Personally, I doubt a deal is in place yet. Whether or not it will actually happen remains to be seen.

Hey Merv it won't be the last time you're wrong Saban is waiting for the ink to dry and on Tuesday he will make the formal announcement you only have a few hours to wait. Then you can run with it if we are wrong... but if we are not then you can apologize like a man.
