Alabama Football Blogs

Here's what some of the blogs are saying about the whole Alabama, Mike Shula, Mal Moore, football coaching search deal.

Assistant U at 850 & 620 THE BLOG
Quote:
Alabama appears to be ready to swap signatures with Rich “they’ll have to take my mountaineer rifle out of my cold dead hand” Rodriguez. The only reason why ‘Bama went this far with Rich Rod was because Nick Saban aparently thought the Tide was kidding with their 10-year, $57 million offer this week.
Wreck Ramblin: WVU's Rodriguez to Bama
Quote:
The big question for GT & WVU fans: Will the assistant coaches he elects to take with him coach in the Gator Bowl? We'll probably know who will coach in the game before today is over.
what is past is prologue…
Quote:
bama now says…

The new head coach of Alabama football will now be Rich Rodriguez, who is currently/will be formerly head coach of the University of West Virginia. At least we’re not the last ones to hire a coach… thank goodness.

This doesn’t mean that I like Mal Moore, though.
Don Surber: Pay the players
Quote:
The only thing he cares about is his wallet.

The imbroglio over whether Rich Rodriguez will abandon his alma mater and state for Alabama for a few shekels more raises the even bigger question: How much will quarterback Pat White, running back Steve Slaton or any of the other 80 or so players on the West Virginia University Mountaineers make on the deal?

Nada.

The won the Sugar Bowl for WVU last year and made Rich Rod a millionaire.

Rodriguez will make over $2 million per year with incentives and will have one of the highest-paid coaching staffs in the Southeastern Conference. He is expected to sign the deal today.

Quote:
Analysis - Call it a hunch but I think this was the best decision Alabama could make and will turn out to be a better overall fit for the school than Spurrier or Saban would have been. I fully expect Alabama to be the best program in the SEC West in the next 3 years.

How weird this 10:00 deadline by Miami! Any ideas on what that means? I really hope Saban takes the job, but I am ready for an answer!
