Re: Fire Mal Moore Mal Moore has done nothing but bring inconsistency to the Alabama football program. He needs to go. Until someone is willing to take a stand at the University of Alabama for what is right, we will not have a successful football program. I have been a Bama fan my whole life-- everything I own is Alabama-- and I am even ashamed to wear it because of the way Coach Shula was treated. Fire Mal Moore and bring Coach Shula back-- he's the person with the back bone, integrity, and grit to help Alabama rise back to a place of national prominence. Everyone must remember even Bear Bryant had his rough spots.

Re: Fire Mal Moore I agree 100% Moore needs to be fired...bring in Watson Brown, look what he has done for UAB, not such a great head coach but he has done wonders for the program. Then as soon as he gets in he can bring his brother Mack with him to be head coach. That would be one heck of a combination. Roll Tide!

Re: Fire Mal Moore Yes! Let's wipe the slate clean: get an AD with some real smarts and guts who will attract a coach who is on the way up, one who can produce from the get-go, someone who can recruit and who can motivate young men to do things beyond the average.

Re: Fire Mal Moore I think that Mal is as dumb as a rock. I also think that he had much less to do with firing Mike than we give him credit for. There a lot of men and huge egos in the good ole boy alumni club, and who knows else that fired Mike. I wish they would have held Mal responsible and shucked him. Mal is just a patsy, but one that we don't need. His ONLY claim to fame, besides playing football for the Tide, is that he was buddies with the Bear. Roll Tide Forever

Re: Fire Mal Moore I Agree, Fire Mal Moore. Mike Shula Was The Right Coach For Alabama!!! Not Only Did He Bring Dignity To Our Football Team, He Also Cared About Our Players. Given A Little More Time Shula Would Have Lead Our Team To A National Championship. Mal Moore Don't You Think Its Time For You To Retire So We Can Get And Keep A Decent Head Coach. Good Luck To Mike Shula And His Family! We Hope To See You Coaching Again Soon. A Big Roll Tide Fan

Re: Fire Mal Moore Hi,everyone.........yes,i have met Mr.Mal Moore.......it was 30 years ago when he was in Scottsboro,Alabama......trying to get our Quarterback at that time.......and he did........Don Jacobs, played Quarterback for the University of Alabama.......and he has 2 "National Championship Rings" that i know of.....ok,now to Mal Moore,i really think he jumped the gun...big time on the firing of "Mike Shula"........."Mike Shula" is a CLASS ACT FROM THE GET GO.......and the way that this whole thing was done.....STINKS.......giving him a note, and asking him to come to your house that night....(which was Sunday Night)........WAS THERE NOT ANYONE MAN ENOUGH TO GO TO "MIKE SHULA".....AND TELL HIM THAT HE WAS FIRED,BEFORE THEY LET HIM MEET WITH HIS PLAYERS....BECAUSE AS FAR AS "COACH MIKE SHULA" KNEW.......HE WAS STILL THE COACH.......THIS LOOKS VERY BAD FOR THE "UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA"....AND THE WHOLE SPORTS PROGRAM.........SO,YES I THINK MAL MOORE HAS BEEN THERE TOO LONG.....SO WHY NOT ANOTHER FIRING....(MEANING MAL MOORE)......AND GET SOMEONE IN THERE.......(SOME YOUNG BLOOD)......THAT WILL LOOK AT THINGS VERY DIFFERENT THEN THEY ARE NOW........THE REASON,I SAY SOMEONE YOUNGER.....IS BECAUSE,I AM NOW 65 YEARS OLD......DOING FINE.....BUT I DON'T LOOK AT SOMETHINGS THE WAY A YOUNGER PERSON DOES.......SO MAL MOORE YES I THINK IT IS TIME THAT YOU LEFT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA.......WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD A GOOD COACH WANT TO COME TO ALABAMA......KNOWING THE WAY THAT THINGS HAVE BEEN DONE LATELY..........OK,I HAVE SAID ENOUGH..(MORE THAN I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE BUT THIS IS THE WAY THAT I FEEL AND THE WAY THAT,I SEE IT........

Re: Fire Mal Moore I couldn't agree more! Post after post that I've read have echoed my sentiments expressed over the past 4 years. It's almost as though Mike Shula was hired with the intent of having him guide the program through the NCAA probation period and pre-planning his dismissal when it was all over with. Even Mal Moore's comment that Mike guded us through a difficult period with the probation ending in Feb '07 hints at this. It seems as though a 6-6 season simply provided the opportunity to go ahead and drop the axe. Yes, we have a young team...Shula is a young coach...we lack a depth of talent due to the reduction of scholarships....we missed out on blue-chip players because of the cloud of NCAA sanctions and the now-deserved reputation of coaching turmoil. I agree that another 2 years would have been the minimum to allow Coach Shula to settle into the job, field a team relatively undamaged and unhindered by the NCAA sanctions and the coaching fiascos of lthe past 6 or 7 years. Instead, it appears that Mike was hired to put a pretty face on the program for the benefit of the NCAA, with intentions of bailing out at the first convenient opportunity...after all, who would dare throw any mud at the son of Dandy Don Shula?? To Mike Shula, in the slightest outside chance that you will ever see this: Thank you. Thank you for bringing some class and pride back to a revered program that has fallen into absolute disarray thanks in large part to a misguided leadership at the top. Thank you for the character that you displayed. Thank you for taking a gamble on what was once the premier job in the coaching world and is has probably become the least desirable among may bad choices. Thank you for the future that could have been. From all I have seen, the overwhelming majority seems to support you. We have been proud to have you represent us and had harbored hopes that you would have great success at the Capstone as other significant personalities have before, perhaps leading to another 25 year period of greatness and stability. Whether from short-sightedness or pressure from the deep-pocket ranks, it is not to be. Best of luck and Godspeed. FIRE MAL MOORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Fire Mal Moore It will be tough to get a great coach to come to Alabama with Mal Moore and the alumnis. We all need to start pressuring them to get things straight. No coach wants to come to a program with the big heads breathin' down their neck. I do believe they hired Shula for his name and that he is a graduate of the university. He sort of got a raw deal, but to be honest, I definetely wanted him fired. Along with Mal Moore. I can tell Shula ain't a great coach that's gonna take us to the promise land. Why stick with him when you know that much. We don't have another 5 years (maybe more) for him to mature as a head coach. Look at his history, he hasn't done a damn thing. He has gotten chances because of his name. At the same time though, Mal and the boys hired him so they need to face the facts that everything is coming back to them. They have made such bad decisions over the past, expecially with the hiring of head coaches. You know they were behind the whole gettin us caught and put on probabation. Maybe I shouldn't say it like that, but if you're gonna pay players and do illegal stuff then make damn sure that you tie your loose ends! Even after last season I still had my doubts about Shula. Coach Kines got us those 10 wins. In my mind they definitely have to try their hardest to get Spurrier, and if you can't get him then you have to get Patrino. I can't state too much on Grove, but I'm not so sure about Sabin or Rodriguez. Of course if we could get Stallings to come back then that would just over ride everything. But he would never as long as that damn alumnis and Bryant Jr. is in charge. More things need to change than just a head coach. If that can happen then we can get ourselves back to the glory we dream of.

Re: Fire Mal Moore I can not believe anyone would believe that Mal Moore had anything to do with the '92 National Championship. In fact, he ran off the coach of that Championship.......(see: Stallings and Moore have screaming match in locker room following the Mississippi State loss). Now, a Mississippi State loss has again played a part in the dismissal of a head coach at Alabama. I don't know that Shula was ready for the job. In fact, most of the offensive coaching jobs he had in the NFL had some really dismal offenses. But, Shula had character and class, and I believe part of the problem was that he did not bow to the Alabama elite who govern the University with their pocketbooks. Bear didn't do it, Stallings didn't do it and Shula didn't either. From that standpoint, he was in an elite class of coaches. Now, Bama has to find someone who will also come in telling the boosters to "boost off" and let him manage this team. We Bama faithful can hang it up. Spurrier is not coming, Beamer is not coming, Saban is not coming........even Rich Rodrigiez will embarrass us by staying put at WEST VIRGINIA. Who in their right mind, and presently enjoying their current position, would want this job? Well, there is one who might just make the move, and this surprising choice could be the start of another great story at the University of Alabama. The person Bama hires has to be strong willed. The person has to have strong ties to football in the south and know the importance of football in the state. The person must be a proven winner. He must have name recognition to draw recruits and coaches to the program. But most of all, he has to be dead serious in sticking it to Tommy T., Bobby Lowder and the obnoxious Auburn faithful. How about Terry Bowden. He's brash enough to not be scared, he has a lot of motivation to take it to Tommy T. and Lowder, and look at what he did with Pat Dye's recruits - perfect season. Bama has some prime athletes coming back on offense and Bowden has an offensive mind. Bama will not be able to find anyone more motivated that Tommy Bowden.
