Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

ill throw a name out there

Terry Bowden

he had his moments and i dont think he is too old to do it again

he knows the Conference for sure and i think he's smart enough for the job

hell ill even add another name

a legend at that

Lou Holtz

now how can you do better then Holtz ?

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

I am very disapointed in this decision. I think that Mal Moore need to get the boot if anyone needs it. Yes we have had a bad season this year but what about last year. I think Larry Coker would be a great coach but he is kind of lack in discipline. I think Joe Kines would make a wonderful head coach. Bobby Petrino now look what hes done for that camp. Tommy Bowden another turn around coach.

Thumbs up Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

well now that mike is gone and i was one who wanted to give him one more year but that is history now. lets see if the info i have is anywhere near right. according to an ex-player and a coach at another college the only way it wont be spurrier is if he absolutely turns us down...so lets wait and see............ROLL TIDE ROLL

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

yeah i can do better than lou holtz....anybody under the age of 65!!! lou holtz WAS a great coach. look at paterno and bobby bowden....it's time for them to go also. but that's a different story. from what i've been hearing and reading though...the job is spurrier's if he wants it. but i think alabama can do much better

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

Whoever the next coach is, he's needs to make some changes to the Crimson Tide offense. And he can start by pulling John parker Wilson!

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

Forget Spurrier! Coker, the team will resort to violence on the playing field. Besides , he brings to much baggage with him. I do not know who will be next but if he can not beat Auburnee within a few years, he will be out!
Shula should have been given another year! The way ya'll go thru coaches will have any future potential coach gun shy!

well heck...maybe a little helmet swinging in t-town wouldn't hurt. it would be the only time they play as a team it seems like. all joking aside...the only reason i agree with "if he can't beat auburn in a few years he's out" is because mal moore is still there. moore will never give a coach the time he needs to recruit and put together a solid team

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

Shula had a weird run at the school. They never were a major force in the SEC during his stay.

As for a new coach, I'd start fresh, don't hire any old guys who just got fired.

Never a major force??? i'll agree to a point. 3 out of 4 years they were not. but let's not forget the 10-2 season they had last year. they were something then

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

I believe that Rich Rodriguez from WV or Petrino would be good. Sylvester Croom was terrible as the offensive coordinator in Detroit, and shows the same ineptitude at MSU. Perhaps Larry Blakeney from Troy would be a good fit? All of the other potential candidates are really too old, and would only have a few years in the position, then we'd be in the same boat we're in now. Spurrier is an interesting idea, but is he really dying to leave Columbia?

Red face Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

I would like to see Mike Otoole givin a chance. He played for "The Bear" and has coached at Samford for several years. He doesn't have that big name but he is a great coach and kin to the Bowdens.

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach

I think we need to take our time and look at all the possibilities. Start by firing Mal Moore and get someone who is not looking through "Bear" colored glasses in as AD. THEN start looking for an up and comer. Someone who has taken a small program and brought it to prominence. I don't have any names now. I would have to do more research but certainly not a Croome or Spurrier or Holtz.
