Re: Next Alabama Head Coach what fans want (poll) Here is a poll on who alabama fans want to replace shula. Jim Grobe 1.7% Paul Johnson 61.7% Nick Saban 4.9% Greg Schiano 1.4% Steve Spurrier 19.3% Jeff Tedford 2.3% Someone else 8.7% With Spurrier and Saban pretty much out of the question, I think the best fit for Bama would be.....Mike Sherman. Previously, Sherman was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers (2000-05), guiding them to three division titles and five winning seasons. During that stint, Sherman turned down the head coach job at Nebraska, electing to stay in Green Bay.

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach Why is David Cutcliffe not a candidate? Alabama guy...great with offense...won at Ole Miss (tough to do, just ask Orgeron)...probably keep Joe Kines. Not saying he's the guy, but why is he not even on the radar?

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach i understand that everybody would like to see paul johnson on the sideline next year. but seriously...it won't happen. the guy has it great at navy. why would you leave a pretty stable work environment to come to the turmoil of alabama. it's going to take somebody that doesn't already have a coaching job or really wants to be head coach somewhere to fill this position. i don't see anybody leaving any head job to come take this one.

| Re: Next Alabama Head Coach Good points, syd, but there are a few things that could lure Johnson away from Navy - the prestige of the program, the chance to win big on a national stage and reach a major bowl game (maybe even BCS in the future), and the biggest factor of them all, money. I'm sure his potential paycheck at Bama would constitute a considerable raise over what he's making with the Midshipmen.

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach me and my husband both are auburn fans and we have family that are alabama fans and every year at this time we have fun rubbing it or getting it rubbed in its what most ppl in bama live for but anyway I remember 4 years ago at this same time listening and watching to see who bama got as their new head coach. It was sad to me then to see the bama fans on pins and needles then to see who it would be. Its even more upsetting this time because there are so many rumors flying around and getting ppls hopes up. I think Shula got did sorry which yeah I understand if auburn beats you 4 years in a row then thats an automatic out for you its pretty much the way it always has been tubberville would be outted too if he had lost 4 years in a row its just like an unwritten law in the state. It just wasn't fair that a week b4 thanksgiving mal moore kinda made out that shula had nothing to worry about then he was gone. in my opinion as in so many others that I have read moore just needs to be gone and a new ad brought in. I just hope it works out for all you bama fans because I am feeling for you and i'm really looking forward to all the christmas dinners because i'm sure that is gonna be the topic at so many dinner tables this year especially if a decision hasn't been made by then. So like I said coming from a loyal tiger fan to all you bama fans i'm praying for ya'll and hope everything works out and maybe ya'll will have a new coach and a new ad before the year is up.

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach while all that seems great on paper...gotta look at the future. his future is pretty much sealed with navy...we've all seen there is no future at alabama (as of right now anyways). plus, while to some people army-navy isn't as big as bama-auburn, johnson is on the verge of sweeping air force and army in the same year for 4 years in a row. he's had winning seasons and takes navy to bowl games. it's only a matter of time before navy starts getting the recognition of the likes that army did in the 50s and 60s. on another note, the rumor mill in texas is spinning quickly. has anybody heard that joe kines (interim hc at bama now) has been talking to univ. of texas about the vacant def. coordinator job?

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach Sorry if anyone took offense to the Probst comment Y-Day. None intended, he is a VERY good coach. BIg difference in HS and Div.1A. Maybe , if he feels ready to go to the next level, he should, he still lacks the most important factor, EXPERIENCE. Move up to 2-3A or coord position @ 1A, would be a big mistake for him and for any 1A university that placed him at the helm of their team. Make no mistake, he is a VERY GOOD COACH!

Re: Next Alabama Head Coach After watching Shula make horrible unforgivable mistakes with a team capable of so much more I fully understand his firing. Now it is time for Mal Moore to step aside and allow football analyst and multiple superbowl winner and national championship coach Jimmy Johnson in as AD & Head Coach. He has the experience and he already owns a home in Tuscloosa. I think they could woo him away from FOX SPORTS. If not Jimmy then how about John Gruden a proven coach stuck with a lousy aging team. Since there only so many "Good Coaches" and they won't take a serious look at Jim Grobe or Troy's coach Blakenley and his entire staff they need someone with pro experience. Alabama's program is on the verge of either another national title or mediocrity depending on who they take.
