Re: Mike Shula fired

you are correct that his style does not fit Alabama, but with the firing of Shula, I don't think they have a style or at least not one the Boosters and the University approve of. Anyone who comes to Alabama will have to do some major recruiting. If Fran had of lost to Texas on Friday, we would have gladly sent him back, but with the win over t.u., we will give him another year.

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, TxAg94.

Chow certainly had success at USC but (I think) he's not got head coaching experience. And as long as they don't Fire Jeff Fisher, I think Chow's got a secure job there. Plus, I expect it would be fun to bring up a raw talent like Vince Young.

Look forward to chatting more with you.

(btw, nice win for the Aggies over TX drop by our Big 12 forums sometime )

Yeah but with Fran's little "lie" when he came to T-town..I don't think they would take him back. That was a great game though...Gig 'Em

See, I agree...you want to win big, you need some out of the box thinking...why does a coach have to fit Alabama's old style of play?...why not get someone new and innovative?...

Re: Mike Shula fired

i agree with getting somebody new. the only problem with that is is getting everybody else out also. Mal Moore is the number 1 problem with this. he wants the team to play this way or no way at all. and he wants his coach to do the same. get him out...get an a.d. that is a little more compromising...and get somebody like coker or even norm chou in there. everybody in the sec knows how alabama plays. sometimes they can overcome and sometimes they can't. it's time to shake up the system

Thumbs down Re: Mike Shula fired

Is Mal Moore insain? Who in their right mind would take the job, Shula took on a disaster of a team & was begining to make some progress. Instead of hiring & firing based on one game a year let's put on our big girl panties and act like an adult. I am as competative as anyone & agree that beating Auburn is the highlight of the year but come on. Do we really want Mal Moore making decisions like he is changing his underware?

If Alabama hires Steve Spurier I will cut up every peice of Alabama clothing I own & send it to Mal Moore. Maybe Alabama should drug test Mal Moore, his actions are not that of a rational man, they are more inline with someone on crack! I have had enough!!!

Re: Mike Shula fired

MAL MOORE IS PUBLIC ENEMY #1!!! it's not that he has to go...it's that if he stays he has to let the coach coach the way he wants to. the old smash mouth football doesn't work every play of every game. it did in the 60s and 70s but not anymore.

He did that, but his 26-23 overall record, combined with three straight losses and his inability to beat Auburn, pretty much sealed his fate. Reactions?
Shula should not have been fired. Fire Mal Moore.

I agree. I can't be more angry. Shula was doing what he was hired to do. If I were a candidate for head coach of the Tide (and I'm a fan of more than 50 years, having grown up in Alabama) I'd turn it down in a Birmingham minute. Why take a job under these circumstances. Mal, go to Mike Shula with your hat in hand and beg him to return. What an idiotic step you've taken. Man, am I mad.

Exclamation Re: Mike Shula fired

I am glad Shula is not head coach bama. For one when he got in scoring distance he would call some missed up play .
