"Mark Ingram has emerged as the leader in my opinion because he has played so well, especially in the last three games. The Heisman goes to the most outstanding player and at this point I don't see anyone who's more outstanding. Great performances against good opponents impress me most, and he has had big games against Virginia Tech, Mississippi and South Carolina."

- Olin Buchanan, Rivals.com.

HP's thoughts: We haven't seen a Heisman race this wide open since 1989. While Tim Tebow still remains a major factor, voters' surge to Mark Ingram illustrates their dissatisfaction over how the established candidates are performing. If Ingram can keep playing at his current level, we might see a Southeastern Conference title game that could determine not only the conference title and one-half of the BCS title matchup, but also the Heisman Trophy. Heisman Game of the Week: Tennessee at No. 1 Alabama. Tennessee is one of the two teams left on the Tide schedule with the kind of defense that can squash a Heisman run. Expect the Vols to do all they can to slow down Alabama's running game. Also, keep an eye on Eric Berry, who might steal some of Ingram's thunder with a stellar performance here.
