Nick Saban responded today to his team's
rise to No. 1 in the Associated Press poll with a detachment that is now expected from the Crimson Tide's head coach.
"I mean, what does it matter?" Saban said.
"What's changed? What's changed from this week, from this Monday to last Monday? What's changed? We've got another game, this is the most important game of the year, and hopefully we're going to respond to it one of two ways: You either respond sort of avoiding pain or you respond to it to try and gain pleasure in terms of what you want to accomplish. "I'm very hopeful we can stay on the positive side of it."
This is the second No. 1 opponent Tennessee has faced this season, though Vols coach
Lane Kiffin took a veiled shot at Florida by saying,
"Well, I think one poll got it right." "If you watch football and pay attention," Kiffin said,
"I don't think there's any doubt who the No. 1 team is. It was very evident when you look at the two teams playing Arkansas. Alabama has a great team, very well-coached, extremely talented, great special teams, great on offense, great on defense. I love the style that they play with. I think they play extremely physical. They play in your face. They come downhill at you. That's what we're going to be someday. I like everything about what they do." Story
